hi guys

need few recommendation from all of u for below:

1. Brand - Any but not China model (such as Huawei, Xiaomi, or etc.) because reason #4
2. Budget - around RM500-RM600
3. Specs - Any. 4G or LTE is not required. wasting battery life.
4. What you need in the phone - Good Camera, Reasonable Battery Life, Sturdy Design (not so fragile)

Currently putting an eye for Xperia C3, Zenfone 5 or Zenfone 2. but any other alternative?
*
Very hard to go for non-China phones only, I would go with either Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE500CL), Huawei Honor 3X G750 or Lenovo A936/Golden Warrior Note 8

QUOTE(hyperyouth_firepower @ May 31 2015, 11:24 PM)
hello you kind folks. sorry to trouble you people again. can you help me here?

I initially PM ed a few forumers, as well as posting in few threads, but right now I'm in this situation where picking up a phone isn't a no brainer at the moment

I'm looking for phones that meet these criteria,

a) qualcomm processor
b) 3GB RAM
c) 16GB minimum storage
d) can be rooted /flashed with custom ROMs, with xposed framework support
e) rm1300 circa

for some reason or another the phone I shortlisted wasn't to be found, so finally I did some comparisons again and found the list grew. butt again these are not easily found phones
1) oneplus one
2) LG G Pro 2
3) LG G3
4) Samsung galaxy note 3 (can get at rm1300????)
as you can see I listed these 3 phones, and I'm leaning towards the lg g pro 2, because of its 5.9 inch screen size (yes I'm a sucker for big screen sizes because I use android devices to read manga consume visual media )

but I also need some advice as to how good the GPS are since I play Ingress and I want to pick the game up again .

as for the note 3 I'm not too keen on the abysmal UI and rooting or installing custom ROM voids the warranty so badly you don't have second chances at it.
any advice?
*
Good headache to have. I'm currently using LG G Pro 2 and the GPS works very well. Can lock very fast using Waze, but Ingress not so sure.

More choices actually for that kind of budget & requirements, you can also consider Sony Xperia Z2 and Xiaomi Mi 4. But I will go with OnePlus One if you are on the modding path.

QUOTE(hyperyouth_firepower @ Jun 1 2015, 09:11 AM)
hi there thanks. will add the two phones and xiaomi Mi note pro into the list, but then again some of the phones are on different price bracket and so it remains to be seen how good they are for the price.
right now it seems that the oppo find 7 is the better oneplus one, sans the firmware, but then again for the price (rm1700?) there are other options such as the LG g3.

price point aside I'm still open to ideas. still got a few days left before I book one online or go to the shops that I trust to get a unit .
by the way, since you use the LG g pro2, how's the modding scene? I'm probably heading towards cyanogenmod with xposed framework. this  frankenstein setup had served me very well in the past, and I wonder if this is the same for the lg g2 pro.
*
well actually, i haven't even rooted my G Pro 2, still virgin. tongue.gif

QUOTE(suadrif @ Jun 1 2015, 02:47 PM)
thanks for the recommendation smile.gif
anyway, Zenfone 2 is one of my eye list.
But looking at the spec, probably i would chose model ZE550ML due to less screen pixel density and higher battery capacity, so that it can compensate with the battery lifetime.
the 500CL battery is too small and other model 551ML have higher pixel density that can eat the battery more.

but need to pump out more cash  cry.gif
*
if you can go up to RM699, then Huawei Honor 4X is a very good choice.

QUOTE(Huey_nee @ Jun 1 2015, 04:08 PM)
1. Brand: any

2. Budget: below 1k (over wee-bit also ok)

3. Specs: currently using Sony Xperia S for almost 3 years, looking for phone spec equivalent or higher (if any) than it

4. What you need in the phone: good camera, preferably big screen 4" and above
*
Huawei Honor 6 for RM949 which has 13MP-5MP or go for Sony Xperia Z1 Compact for RM985 which has 20.7MP-2MP. If you prefer smallish screen, then the Z1 Compact is good to go.

if you can stretch just a little bit to RM1199, then Meizu MX4 for has a larger screen, 20.7MP-2MP camera, octa-core processor and 3100 mAh battery would do you good.

How about honor 6 plus?
*
between honor 6 plus and honor 6, the RM300 price difference between the two is tough to be justified.

but if you think the additional 8MPx2 camera + 0.5 inch larger screen + better chipset + 500 mAh higher battery is worth the RM300 price, then by all means go with it.

Can also consider Huawei Honor 3X G750 or Lenovo A936/Golden Warrior Note 8 with octa-core processor & 2GB RAM for just RM100 extra than Redmi Note 4G. But do take note the Honor 3X got no 4G LTE ya.

2. Budget. ~2k
3. Specs. the best I can for that price
4. What you need in the phone. The best i can

currently aiming for htc m9 , is there any phone better than this around that budget
*
Depends on your main requirements for the phone. For productivity, can get Samsung Galaxy Note 4. For comparable camera & water-resistant, there's the Sony Xperia Z3. For style and innovation, there's Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, or just go for the top-of-the-line LG G4.

In this price range, most of them have good camera already. But for 2GB RAM, dual sim, LTE & good battery life, there's Huawei Honor 6, Meizu M1 Note and Huawei Honor 4X

Thanks!

How does honour 6 compare to one plus one? I heard better things from opo, but does the price reduction make honour 6 a better deal?

And I read a review that says honor 6 doesn't come with corning gorilla glass? Is it true?
*
Between Huawei Honor 6 and OnePlus One personally I'd go for OnePlus One.

Loved the extremely active modding scene.

But if that's not your priority, both also good devices.

Actually opo also drop price dy. About 999 can get new set from DirectD.  brows.gif

Not sure bout Honor 6's gorilla glass. Some review say it has Gorilla Glass 3, but in vmall website nothing mentioned bout it. So better to just install tempered glass sp onto it as soon as u buy it.  nod.gif

Both Honor 6 and opo have it's pros and cons.

If ur a heavy flasher or modder, wants bigger screen, can opt for opo.

If ur just a casual user and u wan the external microsd slot, can save up the extra RM100 and go for Honor 6.
*
true that, my experience with gorilla glass 2 & 3; if you are unlucky and the phone drop flat on the screen or at a slight angle, confirm crack one. cry.gif

best if apply tempered glass, at least if fall only need to change the tempered glass. laugh.gif

Need recommendation for Android phone that has the best camera around 1200 - 1400 budget ?

I can think of Meizu MX4, Sony Xperia Z2, and to a certain extent Meizu MX4 Pro if you can up your budget a bit more; if solely focusing on camera. But a better well-rounder would be LG G3 and Huawei Honor 6 Plus.

budget how much bro?

if you want to last 3-4 years, get the flagship with hexa-core or octa-core, 3GB or 4GB RAM, 16MP or 20MP camera and so on. but price would be expensive.

Yeah, can't avoid issues laugh.gif

What do you think about Huawei? Are they considered fast? Or just so-so?

My wife has a Honor 6, so far after using it for months, still good and smooth. The OS is quite stable IMO. I guess I'll need to have a think, Honor 6+ or OPO smile.gif

I'm not too interested into changing ROMs, that's why I'm not sure if OPO is good for me.

Thanks!
*
but even if you don't do any modding on OPO, the price is very tempting.

other than that, it is all about whether spending the extra on Honor 6+ merit the 8 cores vs 4 cores, 8MP*2 vs 13MP camera, got SD slot vs no SD and dual-sim with single sim.

Hi, need sifu advice on the phones below, I'm really torn between which one to choose.

My usage model:
1. Need dual sim & at least one sim with LTE/4G
2. Need good browsing speed (I use Chrome browser a lot)
3. I use Google Now, Google Map and Waze a lot
4. youtube, and social media (whatsapp, wechat, FB)
5. Hope the phone has potential upgrade to Android M or Lolipop 5.1.x
6. Good battery life
7. Budget below RM1.5k
I've narrowed down my choices to:
1. Samsung Galaxy S5 DUOs
2. LG G3 dual sim (model D858)
3. Asus Zenfone2 4G/64G or 4G/32G
Currently I'm using Redmi 2s, can't stand the 1GB ram, always stutter/lag when browsing. Battery life so so only.

Anyone knowledgeable about phone above mind to let me know the good /the bad?
If you have other alternative phone suggestions please recommend too.
Thanks!
*
Best phone below RM1.5K would be LG G3

mainly use for call and whatsapp/line and email.

If you can up your budget until RM599, it would be Huawei Honor 3X G750
If cant stretch, than at RM499 would be Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G.

Huawei Honor 4x vs Meizu M1 Note.  Looking for an affordable phablet.  Main use will be GPS, browsing, camera.  Like the 4x's SDcard and Note's FHD screen but can't have best of both worlds I guess.
*
Since price is the same, if you can live with no SD card, then Meizu M1 Note is a better choice.

QUOTE(Oyaji @ Jun 21 2015, 12:20 PM)
1. Brand. Asus zenfone 5 (A501CG), Huawei 3C, Huawei 4C, Lenovo A7000
2. Budget. RM600 below
3. Specs. 2GB RAM, 8 or 16GB ROM, good processor
4. What you need in the phone:
-No lag
-dual sim is a must
-good camera/video
-external storage capability
-aftersales service (just in case)
-no or few bloatware (but as long as it doesn't eat too much ram thats ok, probably)

I am pretty much an average user. mostly used whatsapp, telegram, line, usual web surfing, watching youtube
listen to music messaging, calling. as for games I only play chess, reversi, poker some angry birds (not into games such as asphalt, etc.)
my current samsung SIII have start to show its age thus need a replacement.

seriously looking at both huawei 3c and 4c as well as asus zen5. A7000 still needs some reading though. needs some user input on these phones

will definitely going for black colour and put a tough case such as spigen.

4G, is it important to have right now?
*
If based on your specs, the best would be Huawei Honor 4C. Perhaps you can consider Lenovo A936/Golden Warrior Note 8 which has 4G? Huge screen and have 4G and other specs you mentioned.

QUOTE(shadowmorning @ Jun 21 2015, 04:26 PM)
Hey guys am considering getting either a Samsung Galaxy s6 edge or z3 plus.
Priorities are
- Camera(esp low light)
- Battery
- design
How long is the battery life daily with whatsap instagram fb music listening for the edge?
*
Z3+ available already? Can't comment much but LG G4 seems to be doing great as well. If going by your requirements + aesthetics, Galaxy S6 Edge wins.

Hi all sifus, I'm considering to get a new primary phone. Would like your opinions:

1. Brand - No preference
2. Budget - 2k+/-
3. Specs - Nothing in particular, generally all round decent specs will do.
4. What you need in the phone - Again, nothing in particular. Long battery life is a bonus, removable battery also a bonus.

Coming from the old Galaxy S3, I was interested in Galaxy S6 but was put off with the lack of SD card. I would very much prefer to just plug in my current SD card on to the new phone rather than copying all my MP3s over.

I would welcome recommendation of alternatives. Heard about the LG G4 and HTC One M9 plus, any opinions? Pros and Cons?

Thanks a lot!  notworthy.gif

LG G4 or Samsung Galaxy Note 4 for me both removable battery. long battery life would be Huawei Ascend Mate 7 (Li-Po 4100 mAh), but non-removable.

below rm600, can get Huawei Honor 3X G750 with its 13MP-5MP camera or Lenovo A936 / Golden Warrior Note 8 also with 13MP-5MP camera; both octa-cores. can also look for Lenovo Sisley S90, perhaps better for selfie with its 13MP-8MP camera but have quad-core and no microsd slot.

most android phones do not require you to root nowadays. only if you want to install certain apps, but for normal usage, no need rooting.

your requirements are too broad, if you like big screen, can go for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with its 5.7-inch screen. if you want great camera, can go for Meizu MX4 Pro with its 20.7MP-5MP camera, great selfie camera can go for Lenovo Vibe Shot Z90 with its 16MP-8MP camera. personally for me, i would go with Huawei Honor 6 Plus, best bang for buck at the moment.
