In short, whats the consequence if its not updated?

in short, your computer got owned. os cannot detect it, and antivirus cannot catch it or clean it up, because this type of exploits run before os can boot. with good plans, you don't even know your computer is compromised, and continue to serve for as long as it lives, without you knowing.

Hi all siti, alienware 17 r4 considered robust? And good compare with MSI ?

Thinking to get it with gtx1070 spec. But too bad now alienware GPU is soldered not mxm type.

I'm not an Alienware 17 R4 owner but I've tried holding one. That laptop is tank as ****. Using it to slap someone might probably cause that person to lose a tooth. laugh.gif

And yes, it's a sad story. However, a GTX1070 is good enough to last you up to 3 years, provided game devs optimises their games. tongue.gif

I believe the AW17R4 is as solid as the AW13R3 that I'm using. It is really solid.

I have an Alienware M15x Laptop, with Intel Core i7 740QM Processor, AMD Mobility Radeon HD5850 video card and 150 Watt AC Adapter. I bought this laptop in year 2010.

My question: Can I buy the 240 Watt power adapter (originally intended for Alienware M18x) from Dell?

I am afraid that I can buy the 240 Watt power adapter from Dell. When I buy spare part from Dell, Dell would look at original configuration of my Alienware M15x. Since 240 Watt power adapter is not meant for my Alienware M15x, Dell would refuse to sell 240 Watt power adapter to me.

I do not want to buy the power adapter from online websites, such as Ebay, because I cannot verify the authenticity of the Dell power adapter.

240 Watt power adapter can be useful, to prevent throttling on my laptop and overheating power adapter, when I install a newer video card in my Alienware laptop.

Thank you for the information. thumbup.gif

Dunno whether worth to spend nearly 9k into gaming laptop or not? Considering it portable rather than place it at corner like desktop...

If spend 9k for desktop definitely can get 1080 plus AIO water cooled.

Please all sifu try enlighten me...

I can tell you the keyboard is stiffer than those XPS13 island keys, great for gaming.
The touchpad is bad for 2018 laptop, but no problem again for gamers using mouse.

Hey guys, I'm quite tempted to purchase a DFO alienware unit because of the price difference. But I'm just curious about the warranty for DFO units. Would it be up-gradable like your typical Dell notebooks that is purchased new? If anybody has any experience regarding this, the information would be extremely helpful. Thanks!
