Refer to my previous post. Swap your conceptual and feed definition and you'll get the way my organisation do things. No right or wrong, just a matter of definition.

If there are other candidates submitting their rates lower than mine guess that I had to stay with my current job for a while. Though market nowadays - employers is the boss...

YOU are talking like no tmr. Rig counts have been dropping constantly in the states. more like OPEC not backing down to me.

Despite the rig count drop, the market have already been glutted by the KSA/OPEC oil before you know it, hence inventory recording surplus.

I can tell you the condition is not any better from the beginning of the year.

stanzai is correct, rig counts have dropped here in the US. Many operators aren't drilling at all, there are quite a number of layoffs in the shale producing areas (ND, PA, TX). There's a sense of unease in Houston although companies are still consolidating ie. closing offices outside of Houston and moving people back to TX. I expect 2016 to be worse. sad.gif

KSA apparently is hurting as well from what I've read.

A good word of stay strong laugh.gif
Upstream in overseas like Middle East are suffering with this.
Mass hiring in these countries already stopped and only Saudi still doing mass hiring on downstream business since they have 2 mega refineries going to put online by the next 2 years.
Qatar Petroleum every month sure have 3-5 fellows get laid to rest with various excuses from age reached, contract can't be renewed whistling.gif
Shale oil has to be blend with crude oil as it can't really make full range of finished products like crude oil.

I am eyeing on either drilling eng or reservoir study

hi guys, is there any lady working at oil rig? i am girl and i am thinking to study petroleum engineering but i am worried after graduate i will be given a job that requires to work under sun all day. Do offshore engineers work under sun all day? Which degree is more suitable for oil and gas jobs? Chemical engineering or petroleum engineering? Which major do oil companies prefer? will studying petroleum engineering restrict career choices afterwards? can a petroleum engineer work in other industry other than oil and gas? btw, the other industry i mean is those industries that will let me utilize the knowledge i got from my degree not like banking or sales. any help is much appreciated. thank you tongue.gif

For us, concept select is done under our front end team, followed by conceptual design (preliminary PEFS issued) and detailed design (AFC documents issued), both of which are carried out by the projects team. I think we're talking about two different conceptual designs here - the one I'm referring to is where the field development concept has been finalised during front end (eg FPSO, wellhead platform etc), and we are required to produce prelim drawings and LLI TRPs.

Going by our ORP process,

1. Identify - Exploration/Front End
2. Assess - Front End - Multiple options for field development are assessed;
3. Select - Front End - Options are filtered down to a single, most viable one;
4. Define - Projects - Conceptual design starts, preliminary PEFS and LLI TRPs produces. Some preliminary assurance work carried out as well;
5. Execute - Projects - Granted FID/Petronas's MR4. Detailed design through to fabrication and commissioning;
6. Operate - Operations - Handover to ops to operate.

Chemical engineering are better than petroleum engineering since petroleum are part of chemical(in general terms).
Also, after you graduated on chemical engineering, your job market are wider. And if you are lucky to join O&G companies, then only continue study on petroleum engineering.
O&G companies don't really bother much on fresh graduates, they prefer jumping frogs with experience.
Best of all, once you acquire both paper and skills, don't limit your self as a kampung hero, go outside of Malaysia and you will be rewarded. The pay you can get easily 4X more than what you earn in Malaysia with extra leaves sometimes.
Then at the same time study business admin.
