Hi all,

I also received an interview invitation from Cameron, for tendering engineer position.

I am wondering if this position is geared towards sales? Is this a good position for me to learn and enhancing my technical knowledge (for example, instrument design/drawing, P&ID or instrument setup and commissioning)?

Some advice would be helpful. Thank you in advance. smile.gif

I have fun reading supersound's posting, I have to agree he sounded like a skeptical newbie in O&G. Congrats for those wishing to get impacted and got their retrenchment, 2months / year sounds really reasonable deal.

I'm also looking forward for my retrenchment~~
also part of an O&G but SSC Finance dept biggrin.gif

interesting. Is it a corrosion inhibitor or to counteract the effects of buoyancy? Budak baru belajar here.

i my self unsure whats the helium's purpose.

to detect leak perhaps. i used the fast route of google and the hard route of rummaging trough the SPE website didnt find much relating to helium while running casing and tubing. lots of other uses tho.

Well, this will only happen when that particular candidate only has papers but has limited experience. I use my CV(which uploaded to LinkedIn) that never been update for the past 5 years but yet I'm getting job offers every now and then, all by different head hunters whistling.gif
Just only feel sad that non of the Malaysian companies are looking for me.

There is one section on Subsea but none on metering though. Nevertheless it is a good place to start.

You gotta be specific with your questions, how do we know what you want to find out if your question is as general as 'real operation'?

Thanks for the website. I will try to study more on the field and then ask good question hehehe!

Since you're running casing, all potential leak paths need to be tested to ensure joint integrity. The reason helium is introduced is because their molecules are comparatively small and helium content is air is minute, increasing the accuracy when it comes to measuring leakage rate.

I'm not particularly familiar with wells, but for topside piping, we typically use a mixture of 95% nitrogen and 5% helium for our pre-startup N2He leak test. Prior to the test, we'll wrap all leak paths (e.g. flanges, threaded connections) with some sort of plastic/paper bandage, then start poking them with a spectrometer to check the leakage rate after the system has been pressurised up to the design pressure with N2He.

When you run your casing, I believe they are connected to each other by some sort of threaded coupling. I assume the leak test you're referring to is to check if the threaded connections are properly sealed, so in your case, it is difficult to measure using a spectrometer. Measurements are probably taken from the drill floor, so introducing helium will help detect pressure loss quicker.

I also got offer recently via Linkedin. Someone from HR PETRONAS asking me either want to join the organisation which based in Kerteh for Downstream

After a month submit CV to him, straight go to TA and SI. Luckily passed all the iview. Unfortunately the offer not so good which reduction from my current salary.

Since I am working as contract staff now and the business in Upstream not so good,I might think to take permanent role's but reduction of the salary. hmm.gif hmm.gif

Well, there's pros and cons on this, for me I'll just take the offer and work for few years. Then will jump to Middle East which will be higher salary.
Gain more experience on this bad time will be good to pave way for later thumbup.gif
While I have no interest on your pay, can say how many % of reduction hmm.gif

contractual staff get higher pay than permanent staff usually due to the nature of the contract. U are more at risk to be laid-off by the company when project ends when u are a contract staff

higher risk, higher return (salary)
