Thank you very much .Yes you are right,  We don't need 4K monitor right now. Can you suggest the alternative?
One more question, for this type of task, in order to future proof it,  do you think we should invest on more on the graphics or the CPU (i.e 6 or more cores CPU)?

And if im not mistaken, Xeon E3 1231 V3 is 4 cores right? is it possible / good to use 6 or more core CPU?
*
Invest in CPU is better since the main processing task is still depend on CPU, GPU is just a "helper" and act as hardware accelerator.

Intel Core i7 5820K - RM 1529
MSI X99S SLI PLUS - RM 975
Corsair 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 938
Leadtek GT740 2GB GDDR5 - RM 399
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 189
Seasonic M12II EVO 520W - RM 319
CM Hyper 212X - RM 169
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 135
Samsung S22C170BS monitor - RM 409

Total: RM 5062 (Viewnet price inclusive of GST)

CPU with 6 cores and more is quite expensive due to the mobo and RAM price of the platform used by Intel i7 Extreme Series.

Hardware is quite old already, I will sell the parts and add the funds to the budget for a new rig instead. Are you going to reuse monitor?

The build below is just a rig without monitor, I assume you can roughly get extra 1k funds from your current hardware which can be sold off.

Intel Xeon E3 1231 V3 - RM 949
Asrock H97 Pro4 - RM 389
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 209
Palit GTX980Ti 6GB GDDR5 Jetstream - RM 2899
Liteon S900 256GB HDD - RM 429
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 189
Seasonic S12II 620W - RM 339
CM TX3 EVO - RM 99
Corsair Carbide Spec-02/03 - RM 239

Total: RM 5741

GTX980Ti can play at 4K resolution at max settings (no AA) above 30 fps (from what I have seen in the review online), it can probably handle 60 fps at medium settings so it is ready for your future 4K monitor.

Thanks! I'll be re-using my monitor, but for gaming I'll send the video over to a 4k TV that I'm planning to buy later.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but how much more will I need to add to play at 4k at 60fps?

With the current technology and hardware offered in the market, it is impossible to run triple A title at 4K at 60 fps (max settings) with just a single card, even the top tier GPU like Titan X.

You might end up with 2 or 3 way SLI of the top tier GPU to achieve that but it is not really worth the money in my opinion.

I will rather wait for 4K ready GPU (with single GPU since SLI sometimes not really working well with some games) before I invest in a 4K monitor or play at 4K resolution at max settings.

But if you want to know how much to spend in order to achieve 60 fps at 4K max settings, you will need at least another GTX980Ti + higher wattage PSU + SLI ready mobo. The total money needed will cost you a bomb sweat.gif

Bro,it is impossible to get that for RM16xx.Plus the GPU will be bottlenecked by the CPU.

What's your budget and usage?

Well some of the hardware you have chosen are not available in Malaysia such as RAM and mobo.

Hi all,

Currently planning to build a rig as old rig is planned to send hometown for family usage. Appreciate your suggestion on my list, should it be OK with the setup?

Budget: Around RM3,500 more or less.
Purpose: Youtube, video and editing (Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop), some gaming (USF4 & upcoming SFV), multimedia.
Hardware that will be re-use: Dell U2715H
Personal preference: No OC
Question: Is the PSU good enough to cater my future rig? Or should I go for higher 650W?

Complete:
Intel Core i7 4790K 4.00GHz - RM1,199.00
ASUS Z97-A - RM700.00
Kingston HX318C10FB FURY 1866 (8GB x2) - RM520.00
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB - RM509.00
WD Black Edition 1TB - RM259.00
ASUS GTX960 STRIX DC2OC-2GD5 - RM999.00
CORSAIR 200R - RM243.00
Thermaltake Litepower 500W - RM164.00
Cap ayam DVD-RW SATA - RM59.00

Since the total is about RM4,000 ++ then I think I can wait until September while waiting for the new game come out so I have prepared a budget list. I can still live without huge RAM and the graphic card at the moment since I can still use the onboard DisplayPort to fully utilize the monitor full HD. And for the video and storage, I can use my external 1TB HDD until I get the 1TB WD Black after September.

Budget:
Intel Core i7 4790K 4.00GHz - RM1,199.00
ASUS Z97-A - RM700.00
Kingston HX318C10FB FURY 1866 (8GB x1) - RM260.00
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB - RM509.00
CORSAIR 200R - RM243.00
Thermaltake Litepower 500W - RM164.00
Cap ayam DVD-RW SATA - RM59.00

#Price are referred from Cycom and ViewNet (GST inclusive).

Since your personal preference is to get a non-oc rig, then you can just pick a locked CPU instead of "K" CPU and cheaper H97/B85 mobo, this could potentially save you at least RM 500 which you can use to get other parts within your budget.

Just order a build from pc shop, he gave me a spec like this:
Intel G3258
MSI H81M-P33
Kingston 4GB DDR3
WD Blue 500GB
Asus Dvd writer
Trendsonic case with 450W PSU

Is the PSU enough for my system? Should i change that? Plan to get GTX 750 or equivalent for my build later on. Wanted to oc my cpu to around 4.0ghz also. Thanks sifu!

The PSU is cap ayam which comes with the case, not recommended for prolonged use and oc.

And H81 mobo is not ideal for oc even though a BIOS hack can allow oc due to the low power phase design. Get a Z87 or Z97 with at least 6 VRM phase if you really want to oc but it will cost you a bomb.

I will suggest you to go for i3 + H81/B85 mobo instead of G3258 + Z87/H87.

What's your budget and usage?

You should have asked here first before making purchase tongue.gif

Cannot do much with just 1k budget, you can keep your current build but at least change to a better PSU rather than using a cap ayam PSU.

Intel Pentium G3240 - RM 209
MSI H81M-P33 - RM 199
Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 109
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 199
Antec VP500 - RM 159
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 135

Total: RM 1010 (Viewnet price inclusive of GST)

I am from kuching where there is no Antec PSU. Notice there is Corsair 550W and Aerocool KCAS 500W though. The PC guy gave me 974 for my build, which i think is good for me.

RM 974 is quite expensive for just a 500GB HDD and cap ayam PSU sweat.gif

Even the low end Aerocool KCAS series is still better than the current PSU. But it is up to you since you don't have much choices left sweat.gif

After saving more money its finally time to buy the rig i  wanted. Probably buying it next Monday if there's nothing wrong with it.
Price is from idealtech website because i planning on buying it from them
INTEL XEON E3-1231V3 - RM965
ASROCK H97 Fatal!ty Performance -RM475
GSKILL AEGIS 4GB DDR3 1600mhz(CL11)X2 -RM278
PALIT GTX980TI REFERENCE -RM2699
CoolerMaster V650- RM435
CRYORIG H7 (145MM) - RM169
NZXT H440 WINDOW (Black Red) - RM469
WD 1TB Caviar  - RM199
PLEXTOR M6S 128GB - RM299
BENQ 24" GL2460HM(FF/BL/Vesa)(1920x1080/2ms/VGA/DVI/HDMI/Audio/3YEARS WARRANTY) - RM579
Microsoft Windows 7 Pro 64bit  RM200

TOTAL -Rm6767
Max Budget 6800

IM going with Red/black theme because i adore the H4440 case. Thats the reason for the H97 fatility performance and not h97 pro4.
The monitor is there because im thinking of upgrading it into 1440p when i have saved up for it. Probably next year.

if your room is air conditioning or is not hot in general, i would suggest u to scratch out cpu cooler and get bigger ssd. Liteon S900 for example.
ohh and get 1 stick 8GB ram, easier to upgrade and a little bit higher resale value.

You are right, but to consider that I live in Kuching and to deliver the rig from KL also will cost some money, ordering from local shop seems better for me.

Changed to Aerocool Kcas 500W and CM CMP 103 just now, thanks a lot terence_nwb for your suggestions!

If possible, change to 1TB HDD also, the price difference is just ~RM20 and you get double the size of 500GB.
