Chill, all this while Intel do have ultra high end offering for anak dato enthusiasts, and their price are a few k MYR one.

Actually there are even pricier Xeon for workstation which cost over RM10k easily for the chip alone.

As normal consumers, we don't need care too much, just focus on their normal mainsteam i-core series is enough.

Subtotal: RM3487

The remaining budget should be about enough to get a cheap 24" from AOC/BenQ.

As for the cheaper alternative build (3.5k) you requested, drop either Xeon to i5 4460 or GTX970 to GTX960.

C replaced K in Broadwell.

But K will make its return in Skylake.

I am not sure why Intel made this move  sweat.gif

Thanks for the headup. Now all I need is to dig for mobo and ram, problem is, does it fit my budget? hmm.gif

Since last time was looking at Xeon 1231V3 + 16GB RAM + 750ti build. Now got new Core i7 broadwell. Mind you guys help me out? I have no clue which mobo to pick from... did you guys last time said, the new mobo don't support DDR3 ram, so mean I need to look for DDR4 RAM? I kinda weak at this part. sweat.gif

The new i5 and i7 (the two priced over 1k just now) are new CPU, but on an existing socket which launched last year end (H97/Z97).

The current mobo is still on DDR3. It is the next mobo which start to use DDR4 (but so far speculated to provide backward compatibility with DDR3).

So if you are getting a Xeon build now, go for either B85/H97

If you are getting the new i7 build, go for H97 (Z97 will be better, but it gonna cost a lots more).

Seeing the current price, I really dono which one should suggest.

Xeon + 750ti should cost slightly more than the new i7, with a weaker CPU performance but better GPU performance.

The new i7 should be more powerful than the Xeon, but again on a H97 plaform, you pretty much wasted its OC ability (but should still be more powerful than the Xeon even not OCing). But again, I can't justify paying a price of 1.4k for it...

For the RAM, you are getting DDR3 RAM, as it is cheaper and your mobo is using it.

p/s: I didn't mention Haswell-E range of product with its DDR4 RAM as they are seriously out of your budget and only causing you more confusion.

If you choose the new CPU just for the sake of the Iris Pro, it will be cheaper than getting Xeon + GTX750Ti.

Intel Core i7 5775C - RM 1365
Asrock H97 Pro4 - RM 389
GSkill Aegis 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR3 1600MHz RAM - RM 498
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 199
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 199
Asus DVD-RW SATA ODD - RM 59
Cryorig H7 - RM 169
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 135

Total: RM 3013 (Idealtech price inclusive of GST)

I assume the CPU price is same as what Techview is currently offering since Idealtech haven't updated their price list to reflect the changes yet and I added a CPU cooler as bundle. You can remove it if you wish.

Please take note that this build is a non-oc build, it might be a bit waste to put an unlocked CPU on a H97 mobo but no choice since locked Broadwell probably won't make its appearance.

Yeah of course getting a quad core (i5 and above) is more future proof for modern games especially with triple A titles.

Thanks again. But rite now dunno which to choose either getting i5 3570 or 3570k. My mobo not support oc btw. Maybe can upgrade later

Hard to find new LGA1155 socket mobo now since it is EOL'ed, so the upgrade can be done only by getting a used LGA1155 mobo (if you don't mind).

I will go for locked i5 3570 for now and upgrade to new CPU alongside with mobo after 2 years (if 3rd gen i5 can sustain that long).

As for now, 3rd gen i5 is still very strong and can handle latest games without any big issue.

I7-4790K is more powerful on stock when it comes to CPU, i7-5775C has built-in GPU that rollovers any built-in GPU. If you have no plans on gaming or have plans on adding graphic card in the future, 4790K or Xeon E3-1231 V3 is a better buy.

You only go i7-5775C if you gonna overclock at least 4Ghz or gaming without graphic card.

I just realize there are difference between Haswell-E (Core i7 5820K) and Broadwell-K (Core i7 5775C) this morning. Dam Intel for such confusing name. doh.gif

Since Idealtech didn't offer 5775C then might end up a Xeon Build. How does this work? hmm.gif

If you are going Xeon, you will also need a graphic card. It does not come with built-in GPU.

I'm busy these days. Also, got people actively watch the boards.
