It's a case, so if you hadn't have your own case, yes it is necessary (unless you plan to use your PC naked lying outside).

any thermal cooler recommendations?
this rig is going to be used for heavy gaming.

CPU cooler? Since the CPU is locked and you can't OC on it, just find whatever aftermart cooler under RM150 and have the design which suit your taste and fit in your case.

For case fans, just grab some cooler master jetflo. I personally is a cheapskate which prioritize performance and value over aesthetic, so you will see me importing generic OEM fans from taobao instead of getting normal fans out there in the market.

As for the GPU, do note that Gigabyte's 970 priced at about RM1.6k, but if you have the money to spend, we won't stop you. But again, at 1.6k, I will rather wait for AMD's R9 390 which should offer better performance, 5.5GB more VRAM but still cost lower/about the same.

Well you got a lot of choices for your rig with 6k budget, you can go for oc rig (not really useful for gaming thou), GTX980Ti (overkill for 1080p thou), GTX980 + 1080p 144Hz monitor and so forth, if you don't need keyboard/mouse/speaker/OS, then the money can be used to invest in a 144Hz monitor.

Looks fine, though you can add RM20 to the PSU and get Seasonic M12II Evo 620W 80+ Bronze Fully Modular for more headroom for future upgrades. wink.gif

And yes,the Seasonic S12G 550W is a good PSU.

I don't think you can find MSI GTX760 TF anymore, plus the MSI GTX960 Tiger OC costs the same. tongue.gif MSI R9 280X Gaming costs RM12xx,which is extremely close to the price of the cheapest GTX970 which costs RM1271. sweat.gif

Are you going to be gaming?

Xeon E3 1231 V3 is same tier with i7 4790 with slightly lower clock speed and no iGPU only. If you insist to get i7 4790, downgrade the SSD to 128GB and top up RM 40 for it.

Enough to store OS but after you install Windows Update patches, it will take nearly 35% of 128GB SSD space, so getting a 256GB will be more worth and have more space for storage.

MSI is good but overpriced, nearly 1.6k and is only 400 behind Palit GTX980. It's still a GTX970 no matter what brand it is, there is no performance compromise. If you want the MSI card just for the design and brand name, go for it, it's your money anyway.

You want 2 monitors,a GPU and sleeved cable but with the budget you've,you might have to sacrifice a monitor. sweat.gif
