Intel Xeon E3 1231 V3 - RM 949
Asrock H97 Pro4 - RM 389
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 209
Palit GTX980 4GB GDDR5 JetStream - RM 2077
Liteon S900 256GB SSD - RM 429
Seasonic M12II EVO 520W PSU - RM 319
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 135
BenQ GL2450-B - RM 479

Total: RM 4986 (GPU is from Cycom, others are from Viewnet inclusive of GST)

You can downgrade the GPU to GTX970 so you can get a better case/monitor, GTX970 is sufficient to play on 1080p FYI. If you don't need a monitor, the additional budget can be used to buy GTX980Ti reference version when it gets released here in a couple of days.

Hey thx for the suggestion. I already bought my rig from Jayacom and monitor from viewnet I think.

Total loss was around 3.7k including GST.

My rig:

Intel Core i% 4690K
Asus H81M-D
Kingston hyperx 8gb DDR3 1600MHZ RAM
MSI OC Tiger GTX970 GDDR5
Aerocool 600W
WD Blue 1TB HDD
Thermal take Versa H25 casing
AOC monitor 23"

Happy with the rig!  rclxms.gif
*
You get an unlocked "K" CPU and paired it with cheap H81 mobo which makes it like a locked CPU, not sure why you are going for this kind of build sweat.gif

The PSU you bought is crap btw, suggest you to get a better quality PSU for prolonged use.

I've got max of 8000 to spend, so there's definitely enough for a new case/monitor; so which ones should I get that is considered an upgrade from the ones you listed?

With 8k budget, you can go for overclockable rig, either Z97 or X99.

Intel Core i7 5820K - RM 1499
MSI X99S SLI PLUS - RM 974
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 469
Liteon S900 256GB SSD - RM 429
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 379

Total: RM 3750 (Viewnet price inclusive of GST)

Zotac GTX980Ti 6GB GDDR5 AMP! - RM 2849 (To be released soon)

As for cooler, you can choose air or water cooler, cheap air cooler like CM Hyper 212X is quite reliable or you can go for liquid cooler such as CM Seidon/Nepton or even high end Corsair H100i/110.

As for case, you can pick your own favourite since you have budget to do it.

And last, the budget left after getting all the parts can be used to buy a monitor, it could be a cheap BenQ 24 inch which falls below RM 500 or high end Dell U2414H which costs nearly RM 1000.

If I have 8k, I would go for.

Intel Core i7 5820K - RM 1499
MSI X99S SLI PLUS - RM 974
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 469
Zotac GTX980Ti 6GB GDDR5 AMP! - RM 2849 (To be released soon)
Liteon S900 256GB SSD - RM 429
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 379
Corsair H100i GTX - RM 499
Corsair Carbide Spec 02 - RM 229
Dell S2340L IPS monitor - RM 689

Total: RM 8016

It's not that I dont trust sifus here, but apparently I go buy them before I had time checking lyn replies. sad.gif

But anyway I'll see if I want to change mobo later or not.. Anyway how bad is the PSU? How does it affects my rig?

Also, I cannot find any zotac or palit reference in jayacom and viewnet. zotac in jayacom was out of stock that time. so I went with msi tiger oc because only rm 40 (+-) difference. rclxub.gif

Well, holy shit. Sadly I don't think I wanna go above 7k for multiple reasons.
What if I don't want to upgrade to overclockable rigs and still want to upgrade based on the first list you gave me? Preferably max 6k.
Terribly sorry for the troubles caused; I just wanna make certain of all the possible choices and consider them. hmm.gif nod.gif notworthy.gif

Please note that you can switch to Xeon E3 1231 V3 to save money as it is same as i7 4790 with slightly lower clock speed and no iGPU only, as for SSD, you can ask for Liteon S900 series, it is not listed under their pricelist but they do carry it, it is cheaper and yet reliable.

Thanks for the recommendation. any reason why you recommend the asrock h97 board? This is the first time i heard about that brand. Say, if i want to stick with gtx960 with 4gb ram which brand will you recommend?

Well Asrock has the best price to performance ratio compared to other brands, it is a reliable brand and provides 3 years warranty as well.

GTX960 with 4GB VRAM price is very close to GTX970 reference, no point going for it since GTX970 has more juice to run games at higher settings.

If you insist to get GTX960 4GB, go for the cheapest one, probably Zotac/Palit/Leadtek, but most of them are having price tag of nearly 1k+/- which makes it not worth the money.
