Your budget is way too low, I suggest to look for second hand item in Garage Sales such as used Intel Pentium G3240/3250, used H81 mobo, used RAM, used HDD, used HD6950 (iPmart is selling used if I am not mistaken around RM150), used PSU & chassis, used monitor. Not much can be done with that limited 1k budget.

Im considering gtx970 but x51 1st generation psu cant support it. Need further modification. Maybe need to do more research on psu for my little rig.

Really? Their power requirement only 5W different according to official specs?

You can also down clock it to make sure it stay under the maximum power consumption threshold at all time.

If you mean the 8+6 pins vs 6+6 pins, you can mod the connectors to make it compatible as long as you know what you are doing.

You can also try ITX cards which are designed to run at lower power consumption (there's only one 8 pins connector as you can see here).

EDITED: Ok, my bad. Seems like the original PSU of the X51 is rated for 330W only. It will be really risky to stress it too much. If possible consider change the PSU so you don't get limited just for it.

Your budget is way too low, even worse that you don't have the basic such as casing, keyboard, mouse & monitor covered.

Try going for second hand build or raising your budget.

Guys I need your suggestion. Since I recently upgraded my home PC, well it's not upgraded it's a whole renovation. I want to add a GPU into it so after SPM I can just build my real PC without any hassle.

I was thinking of getting the GTX 960 due to
1) I'm an NFag and
2) It's low power consumption since this new PC got a FSP Hexa 450+

So the specs of the home PC is this

Pentium G3240 @3.1GHz
4GB RAM
1TB HDD WD Green
FSP 450+
Asrock H81M-HG4

So I know there'll be bottleneck but you think it's good enough? I know there's a new AMD gpu goin out sooner but...yea my preferences is too much on N. So good to go for a GTX 960? And what's the cheapest for one as well?

Good to go but expect some bottlenecks from your processor and it won't be able to run some games such as Dragon Age Inquisition and Far Cry 4. Cheapest GTX960 currently is MSI reference model RM 847 with GST.

If you are using a mATX case, then you need to get mATX mobo, what Minecrafter suggested is an ATX mobo, so change it to H97M-Pro4 if want the same model or cheaper B85M-HDS.

If you buy all parts from them, no extra charge for assembling.

Looks like it's time to get myself a souped up PC, starting to have game releases I simply cannot play any more.

So obviously, just for gaming. Don't need monitor, keyboard, mouse or sound system, all already there. Just processor, graphics card, ram, psu, casing. Hoping to throw in a small SSD for better OS operation and some games.

I'm totally out of the loop in terms of what's hot these days, what kind of range can I get with around 5k?

Thinking of upgrading my currently 5 yr old rig for Witcher 3.

Current:
i5 760 @ 2.8ghz
4gb ram
gtx460
psu 400w

Thinking of either getting GTX 750 Ti or 960.. leaning towards the 960 as i only buy a card once in 5 years. Prolly a new right by the next time.

Would the current processor bottle neck the system much with the gtx 960?

Which GTX 960 would be the best bang for the buck (in terms or value)

Do i need to upgrade anything else? Ram?
