Try running uTorrent as administrator. You should be able to associate torrent files with it. smile.gif

yup, i am already administrator and tried it....didn't seem to work. every time i click on the button to associate torrent with it, it does get greyed out. then i close utorrent and open it again, the button is back and not greyed out... doh.gif

anyways, no choice but i switched to azureus for my vista lappie...

Hey, I'm having some problem with utorrent after formating my PC last week.
Everytime I run utorrent I can't connect to any website! Even messages can't be send on MSN sometimes. But my download speeds are fine. rclxub.gif
After closing it, every thing goes back to normal!!
What happen!? I never experienced anything like this last time though....
I'm using utorrent 1.6.1 and have port forwarded. icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

^^ The connection from Utorrent flooded your router. Simply just tone down the max connection to 60 and see if it help. Oh turn off the DHT would also help. Utorrent DHT quite aggressive.

I have the same problem.

reduce global connections or max connected peers per torrent?

Will turning off DHT reduce download speeds?

^^Max connection per torrent to 60. Try global max connection to 200.

And i would suggest to download 2 or 3 torrent max.

About the DHT its only for searching peers if the tracker down. It doesn't matter much depending on the health of the torrent itself.

uTorrent affects me pretty randomly... at times when I have it running my loading speed slows down... once I pause and shut it down it becomes normal again

port forwarding??
if u using router,
so port forwarding must to do ,
if not your connection will be blocking by the router firewall
when it blocking ,so the speed will drop,

Look at the speed you're getting.. 3 connected peers and already 25kB/s thats a lot. I max my download speed of 150kB/s only connected to less than 15 connected peers. It doesn't matter how many connected peers, its the speed of each one of the peers makes a different.

After all you don't think that your router can handle gazillion connection do you?

I'm connecting to the Internet directly through my PC before distributing to another 2 PCs at home because I know the router cannot handle it. BTW, I'm subscribing the Streamyx 1MBps package.

I understand the meaning of good quality seed... but yet, we cannot rely only on a seed to download, right?

Is that because of our Streamyx's throttling for having a lot of peers but little are connected?

Does the listened port affect the downloading speed in any way?
I'm currently using this random port of 53343.

high possibility that the tracker is returning the wrong number of peers.

yes, i think streamyx is throttling. most of the time, the connection to the tracker will be timed out. (except at night, i think)

How do I do rehashes on Utorrent?

Previously downloaded a few files, all of them got corrupted, saying it was unable to open. Best of all, the torrent kept downloading although I had reached 100%. And it was a damn big torrent too sad.gif
