You are very interesting person with interesting questions.

Allow me to clear this.
There's never a Malaysia's mibox or Malaysia firmware.
whether you are buying from Lazada or Aliexpress.

There is only a international version mi-box which is MDZ-16-AB that
Lazada is selling now.

MDZ-16-AB is in english
There is no need to format or re-install anything.
It works out of the box .
*
I got mine in English for some of the menu but most is in Chinese.
And the content is not available so I guess this is not international version.

That's the problem to those having problem reading Chinese.

Playing Netflix on the Chinese version of Mi Box will never get resolutions higher than 480p
There are no way around this except to get the Mi Box 3 International version with Google TV firmware

Tested on both Mi Box Enhanced (Chinese) & Mi Box 3 International Version
The only weakness with the Mi Box 3 International Version is that it only has 1 USB port sweat.gif

I saw a recent article on Soyacincau that mentioned iflix is now a native app on certain Samsung Smart TVs. Do we a native Android TV iflix app now?

http://www.soyacincau.com/2017/05/16/you-w...on-your-tv-now/

If yes, then yay!

I have a 3 port USB hub connected to the single USB port behind the mibox. 1 for wireless mouse, 1 for wireless keyboard and the last port for USB storage.

I have a wireless Xiaomi gamepad too, connected via BT to the mibox.

Mine is international set and I dont see the issue with the 1 usb port. Can always add the 1 to 3 usb converter module.

Is it me or does the original bluetooth remote control would sometimes fail to connect or lost its connection suddenly requiring a reboot of the box to pair the controller again?

no box reboot required, just press remote on both back and home button very near to your box.

Actually no need to re-pair with back and home buttons. . It happens to me sometimes. I just long press the center button and it connects again. Doesn't happen too often. Maybe once a month or less.

Would there be a beep when it pairs again after pressing and holding the home buttons?

how do you guys transfer apk over to the box for side load installation?
in previous mibox chinese rom, there is this remote install feature, but i cannot seem to find this on the new 3S.

btw, i'm on the international ROM converted from the chinese Mibox. everything works except youtube casting from phone.

also, i have a logitech wireless keyboard with touchpad unit. but it does not seems to work with this mibox. anyone facing the same problem?

Hmm I've been using Pi2 loaded with Kodi for the past couple of years.

Recently upgraded TV to 4K HDR, so am thinking of changing Box

Seems like Mi Box 3S support 4k and HDR?

I understand the fact Kodi has very less 4k support, but more of a future proofing thing I think maybe in the future revision of Kodi will enable those function?

What's Mi Box 3S storage after sideloading Kodi 17?

I only see 8Gb with no way to increase storage unless through USB (only 1 port)

Thanks for any feedback.

Agreed. I just followed the steps on XDA to convert the MDZ-19-AA to the international rom.
The only issue i have now is not able to cast youtube thru phone.
