Cheap ?

I feel foreign brand in japan are not cheap. But Japan made product is cheaper.

Ex, Gopro 7 in Japan cost RM1980. While here can get below RM1800. While a Omron massage device cost less than RM200 compare here RM370.

I don't see japan have any home automation famous brand. Or any ? But is a heaven for home automation accessory or DIY.

Japan not fall back on home automation. But they already have home automation way longer than us. Every home in japan have some sort of automation.

Did you buy those Omron Tens Massager?

I feel Japanese IoT device and appliance is lacking behind. They suck in software I think. I bought a Sony tracking device and its just bluetooth but to add it to your smartphone is such a pain in the ass. If you want me to take a screen shot of every step, it would fill several pages! Damn stupid lor

Japan is going down the drain in todays connected world

Hello All!

I am planning to buy lightbulbs for my entire house, roughly 24 units of E27. Cos of the quantity, it will be expensive. Pondering the difference between:

1. Philips (https://s.lazada.com.my/s.Sa12) - RM35
2. Yeelight YLDP05YL - RM65++
3. Yeelight YLD06YL - RM70++

Question is, control wise via xiaomi same for all?
Will 450 lumens vs 800 lumens make a huge diff?
My room e.g. 4m x 3.5m will have 2 bulbs.
Hall 3m x 13m will have 10 bulbs.

Worth extra rm10 for feng tau lights colour for no.2 vs no.3?

Why not use smart switch for it?
Expensive for controlling hall lights with that many bulbs
If one or two bulbs, then change to smart bulbs

LED bulb roughly smart rm35-75, stupid rm15+
2gang live wired about rm120+ smart, stupid rm10

E.g. 12units
I need 3 switches, 12 lights.
So if smart light stupid switch rm450-rm930
Vice versa, rm 540

Difference is...one can change mood colour, another one kenot
Gonna get married as well....so.....stil thinking hard

But question is which lightbulb better for investment?

blink.gif You want colour, right?
Your RM35 bulb link cannot connect but that bulb ain't got colour for that kind of price.

So, for colour using your price :
Smart light, dumb switch 810 - 870
Dumb light, smart switch 540
Difference of 270 - 330

And what smart switch cost RM 120+ ? rclxub.gif

Can get less than 100 for Xiaomi per switch
If your house got neutral, can get Sonoff switch for half of your price.

Somehow. Lumen output will affect the brightness in your room. Of course there are other factors such as your fitting etc

Not too sure, not into Google Home/Alexa products.
Japan device that supports network control are kinda exp and they are based on Echonet, Echonet Lite protocol.
I have two units in my lab, some ceiling light from Toshiba, 7W LED, non dimmable, 60k yen/unit laugh.gif
TBH, most Japanese home are “smart” as in you already set their timer to do something everyday or based on some motion sensor/just plain IR devices. For actual networked setup, it’s pretty much non-existant.

Hence for my own setup in JP, I designed pretty much everything from scratch, both hardware and software but rely on HomeKit For UI.

Can get from local vendor for less than rm100? 2gang? Planning to pull neutral as well beside the switches.
Thinking warm and white lights or coloured (disco) better than fixed lights, cant really dim with switches.

Not planning for sonoff, plan to stick to one brand for all easier.

But the question is which light bulb to consider, switches using for others.

Now really thinking hard.

Can search at Shopee. Local or not dunno. biggrin.gif
Since already decided on bulbs, then get the ones with that can go to higher brightness.
Can dial it down mah if too bright. If too dim at max, u want to up the brightness also cannot.

Yup, brought 1 Omron Pulse massager. Cheaper there.

Many small tools that cannot find here. Found a Dremel micro RM150 cheaper than lazada. And it no more selling here also. drool.gif

Want carry some solar panel back also. But luggage over weight liau. cry.gif

Japan not lack of Iot. They are mostly for local rather outside japan. Software also. Or rather said, close market. You know they sucks in English. So it would be complicated for outsider to use.

Another reason is, japanese are rather more familiar with home automation from young. They don't need much training to use. So the software develop will not start like begining use. But probably start from middle level to hard. That is look like hard for us which we are not train from young.

So this japanese software developer have no idea how hard and difficult to use their thing.

I experience stay alot in those japanese home and see alot of their Home automation. I can tell you, mostly you can't operate it. rclxub.gif

The automation code I put at automations.yaml.
It will link back to configuration.yaml by this line "automation: !include automations.yaml"
After creating the automation, normally will check the config and reload the automations at Configuration/General page
The automation created will appear at the frontend with the alias created inside the Automation card.
Click on the alias name and it will go to a card with the Trigger button.

ok let me try again tonight... im suspecting that the aqara cube is the problem ... seems to have some firmware issue with the gateway earlier... but a lot of forums reported that it has been fix.. but I have a even newer firmware for my gateway... was wondering if that is the culprit... hmmm

If your HA version is less than 0.83, use cube_action instead of xiaomi_aqara.cube_action.

Just finish linking alexa and homeassistant. The steps are harder than I thought.

Now I just need to wait for my echo dot so that I can create routines.

Anyway anyone knows whether Alexa is able to collect sensor status and brief you on the summary?

I would like to be able to do something like this.

Alexa, review the home security status

A:-
Gate is closed.
Front grille door is closed.
Wooden Door is locked.
Back Door is closed.

Japan has automation but right now, if you look at Google home and Alexa, they probably have overtaken in terms of adoption/features/connectivity/choices/voice connectivity. In another words , they don't have an ecosystem.

In the early 2000s, I could still remember Japanese phones being the forefront in technology.
Once iPhone came out , they never could compete anymore.
