QUOTE(ozak @ Dec 10 2018, 09:08 AM) Cheap ? Not too sure, not into Google Home/Alexa products. I feel foreign brand in japan are not cheap. But Japan made product is cheaper. Ex, Gopro 7 in Japan cost RM1980. While here can get below RM1800. While a Omron massage device cost less than RM200 compare here RM370. I don't see japan have any home automation famous brand. Or any ? But is a heaven for home automation accessory or DIY. Japan not fall back on home automation. But they already have home automation way longer than us. Every home in japan have some sort of automation. Japan device that supports network control are kinda exp and they are based on Echonet, Echonet Lite protocol. I have two units in my lab, some ceiling light from Toshiba, 7W LED, non dimmable, 60k yen/unit TBH, most Japanese home are “smart” as in you already set their timer to do something everyday or based on some motion sensor/just plain IR devices. For actual networked setup, it’s pretty much non-existant. Hence for my own setup in JP, I designed pretty much everything from scratch, both hardware and software but rely on HomeKit For UI. |
