It'll be in your BIOS. The Processor section of the BIOS. Look around and you should see the option.

I'm facing the same problem for my E6300, it show me 266 x 6 in the CPUZ, default should be 266 x 7.
Mobo i'm using is Biostar Tforce 965PT, can tell me what i should i disable/enable in the bios setting so that it can go back to normal?

do u adjust the power option? don't use mobile profile. just use default performance profile.

even though i'm on AMD, this fix my problem. i disabled Cool N Quite, my multiplier still jumping up and down.

For Biostar Tforce 965pt, just disable the C1E will do smile.gif

Well, i'm just restarted my computer and checked in the bios setting there, no C1E this thing.... sweat.gif
Btw, my bios version is P96CA514.rh1 Rebels, date 14/5/07.

i disabled EIST already..now it just jumps back and forth..from 6 to 9 multipliers back again and back again..but most of the time its 6 multipliers..wats wrong?

what abt the "power options" in control panel? i read it somewhere that sometimes it will mess with the multiplier; even it's been disabled in bios.

give it a shot; set the "power option" to "home/office desk"

ok i got it working by disabling the C1E...but now when i play my sims 2 it stucks halfway and u cant even open the task manager to close it..u have to off the computer..i dunno if this is some heat problem or something..but when i close everything on background,it wont stuck..not enough memory? i tried 4gb ram but its still like that..lousy vista OS..

is ur pc OCed? if yes, it might due instability problem
when u OCed ur cpu, u have to stress it wheter its stable or not

i agree with gangstapo...u need to stress it with program like PRIME95 or ORTHOS...

run it for few hours and see if stable..if so..go ahead and OC higher if u want to..smile.gif

yes i did stress it..i used prime95..left the pc on..all test passed..the temp highest was 62 degrees..is that ok?

oh and..i AM using that core 2 duo OCing guide..but i only know how to do the multiplier part..dunno which one to set higher vcore..

Is Vista OS really give u trouble experiences? I am still afraid to upgrade to vista as I heard bad rumor bout it. Maybe wait until next service pack. hmm.gif
