what cooler u using ah? temp in orthos?

Stock cooler. Temps gets to 70c after 5 minutes of Orthos. I've reseated the HSF countless times. Still the same oso. Don't think the IHS is concave. Thinking of getting a better screw-on cooler.

for some initial batches of the E6600, yes, there are some problems with the ones that comes from the Malaysian Intel Plant. But for the others, the local are just as good as anywhere elese

I`ve got a new chip too, its made in costa rica FPO/Batch 3708B259...same like raist86. Well, the performance not that bad. Can overclock quite high. Current stable at 390 x 9 1.45v vdrop to 1.43 ...4:5 ram ratio vdimm 2.1 487mhz x 2 ddr975 5-5-5-15 on DFI infinity p-965s.

My highest so far with this processor is at 410fsb 1.475v core. Benchable but not orthos/prime stable, stress test failed after 5 mins.

Reis,

That batch is from costa rica rite. What is the voltage on the processor box. I think it is one of the newer batches. It should do 3ghz without any problem i guess. Couldnt find any archive abt the batch number on the internet. The only way to find out is to overclock it once yr GC arrives.

Do let us know the results of your overclock!! Good luck!

I do have that problem initially before doing any overclocking, CPUZ shows multi at 6. After a few refresh and re run cpuz, it shows the normal settings.

It's probably because you have C1E enabled in the BIOS.

QUOTE
C1E enhanced halt state - the C1E halt state replaces the old C1 halt state used on the Pentium 4 and most other x86 CPUs. The C1 halt state is invoked when the operating system's idle process issues a HLT command. (Windows does this constantly when not under a full load.) Entering halt state, which is a lower-power state, will cut a CPU's power consumption and heat production. Intel's new C1E halt state is also invoked by the HLT command, but it turns down the entire CPU's clock frequency (via multiplier control) and voltage in order to work its mojo. This more robust halt state requires significantly less power than the old C1 implementation

courtesy of techreport, shameless copy and paste to give an idea on C1E.
