I see. Initially I thought those used Mission came from Singapore.
*
i am not sure about SG or from UK, i bought mine from current connection (an electrical shop in Atria once upon a time)....
my uncle bought the 753 from a local shop as well.... so if i were to guess, i would say these are locally purchased sets.

i cant remember, i was a teenager back then.... if i were to guess, it would not have been more than 800-900. Mission was very popular back in 90s...
Alot of the used ones on the market are usually 760... i but SE are rare.... the SE are bi wire able.... its makes a big difference. not the bi wiring, the drivers of the SE are better
*
I like 760iSE soft bass and its midrange vocal, too bad it's lacking treble which is not my taste, else I already bought one of the used unit.
i have denon by mission ms-50 as well, the low midrange is too loud, not my taste and I guess it could be due to the resonant from the plastic back wall. but this mission ms-50 seems very famous from the internet discussion, kinda strange.. confused.gif

asked him yesterday .. he said getting to it soon
well ... just have to be patient lorr

when i bought the 753s over 20 years ago i used the top of the range yamaha av amp to power them (cost more than the 8000A then )
it was never going to be as good as a dedicated stereo amp
but i wanted the best of both worlds
that amp died .. now just using another ok yamaha amp
i guess i am more compromiseable nowadays ... to a certain extent anyways cool2.gif

I totally get what you mean by compromise... back in my college years i had an AVI200 Harmon for movies and a low end proton integrated for my missions for music... i did try to play the music thru the AVI but i didnt stick with it for long... these days, i just compromise the movie and play them thru the 8000LX. smile.gif one day, maybe i will looking to setting up a dual system again... maybe.
oh i sent in my 753 to Octave for repairs... so i will keep tabs with you on the progress... all the best with your repairs!

Hi Mission fans, do you guys send back the warranty card for warranty registration? Usually how long is the warranty period? Is it 5 years? Can't really find much info on this, thanks.

The 753 had an under-rated power resistor in the tweeter circuit, that burns.
The value varies with the year of manufacture.
There is some information on the 753 crossover here:

What's the effect of burnt resistor? Totally no voice coming out from tweeter? I have Denon Mission speaker which highs seems to be lower volume...

A burned resistor can go to a higher value and reduce the level.
Dried out ferrofluid can also reduce the tweeter level.
What happens if you swap left and right speakers?

Both also same. I bought 2nd hand with "pushed in" tweeter outer layer on both, used vacuum cleaner to suck out the soft outer layer.

The simple way to test a tweeter is to disconnect it from the crossover and see what happens by connecting to a AA battery. You are looking for the dome moving in or out evenly, not sticking at one point. If it moves in and out evenly by a mm or so according to which way round the battery is, it is almost certainly healthy

He has a very long history and is well regarded. Sometimes he gets overloaded with work.

I have a pair of 752s and they are hard dome type. Sometimes a pressed in dome can be sucked out.
Why do kids always do this?
*
My 780 had this issue when my 2nd son was a toddler. What I did was to use Johnson Baby oil, just a tad and lightly coat the squished dome. My 780 is rubber domed so with this baby oil and lightly rubbing in circular motion, the dome will get back it shape. Although the dome is back to its original shape but there will be lines visible (creases). This line will go away as and when the oil evaporates. Now my son is 2nd year MSU, means 19 years later still no issue. On the otherhand if the dome is punctured, thats different story.
