Wow. So many things to do with a mechanical keyboard. I suppose stickers lube and grease all come after youve assembled the keyboard?

I'll have to do a bit more research on those things. Gateron switch with sticker and lube got any effect ah?

Hehehe, you can skip both of those if you just want a basic build. In the name of experimenting, I will do all the test on the extra switches that I'm ordering, then see if I'll do to all my switches. Gaterons mostly use springs other than those that came with Cherry, so that's a pretty interesting thing to me. |

Nope, not this GB, coz I'm using MX clears for this build. No, not ordering from GON anymore, cloud8992 showed me cheaper way to buy stickers from China. As for lube, I'm buying from eBay, then I'll ship everything one shot from US to here. I'm not sure whether they will be accepted by the forwarding company or not. Last time I shipped twice package that have liquid lens cleaner in it, and they shipped with no problem. Edit: I think those that are prohibited are those containing alcohol and industrial use chemicals, at such a small volume of lube and grease, I doubt they will reject it. Mx browns is also ok for gaming but not as smooth as MX red and black when comes to double tapping but just go with what ever switches you feel the best to your finger will do. |

QUOTE(cloud8992 @ Apr 24 2015, 02:40 AM) wow people keep thinking that reds are for gaming Okay..thanks for the info... have you type on red for a long period of time ? for you info cherry did not design MX reds for gaming LOL It is often preferredover tactile switches for gaming. nothing more don't be a stereotype. But I still think Blues is nice |

QUOTE(ZR46 @ Apr 26 2015, 08:11 AM) Yea, for me, Blue is still the best. The satisfying clicky sound and the tactile feedback. For fastest response speed, I guess, it's still Red. It's due it has lower actuation point and linear feedback(softer and easily register each press without needing to press each button to the end completely). |

I highly believe that once you used mechanical keyboard, you will not like the feel of membrane. Even saying that, I can still use the chiclet keyboard on laptops and the membranes on uni comp lab just fine. Maybe it's just me, but a keyboard is still a keyboard no matter what. Just that the only difference is whether you bottom out or not and the feedback is a little different. Else, if you want something closer to membrane feel, you can try out topre switches. Some people said that it feels like a better membrane switch( these people didn't like topre ). While others say topre are the end game keyboard. If you like topre, no other switches will come close in terms of feel. Just today, there's a reddit thread on r/dota2 which says one of the player actually uses a topre keyboard in a lan tournament. http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/33u...an_ibm_model_m/ This post has been edited by ck.chunkeat: Apr 26 2015, 12:44 PM |

I'm very agree with you because some pipul say it is not the same 'feel' like membrane when I've my 'baby' Filco MJ2 TKL(Beige,Blue MX), totally it is like " antara langit dengan bumi"...Even saying that, I can still use the chiclet keyboard on laptops and the membranes on uni comp lab just fine. wow! i'm glad to see this thread is kicking and alive with posts after the drought!
happy to see more mkb users flocking in, this also means there's possibility of running our very own groupbuy in near future, though it may only be a wishful thinking but at least there's a glimmer of hope now This post has been edited by justnits: Apr 26 2015, 01:12 PM |

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Apr 26 2015, 01:29 PM) Yea, i just watched a video of someone reviewing the keyboard. First time i found out that there's variable weight in a keyboard. More keyboard science to learn. Still, I don't really understand why he chose to use a keyboard with variable weights for gaming. Consistency is one of the highest requirement imo,for gaming. Btw guys, I noticed that when I type on the keyboard. Sometimes there will be duplicated characters coming out. It happens randomly and occasionally. I'm not sure whether it's because of faulty switches or because of my own way of typing which causes it to double press without me knowing. Anyway,it is not restricted to a certain key. When it happens, I will try to check that particular key and tried pressing on it a few times to see whether it happens again but sadly I wasn't able to reproduce the double character output no matter how slow/fast I click or tap or double tap( double tap will have 2 characters, no additional characters ). So I kinda feel like it's not a problem with the switches. This post has been edited by ck.chunkeat: Apr 26 2015, 01:52 PM |
