QUOTE(ping1990 @ Mar 20 2015, 03:08 PM) Actually you can ask here, just that people here will definitely advise you not to buy any of those gaming keyboard. If you want to know the reasons, you can try to search at the old thread. Too many people come and ask and sifu here have given their opinion yet they still insist on getting the gaming keyboard. |

QUOTE(piecez @ Mar 22 2015, 07:56 PM) Hi sifu, wanna ask this Aula keyboard https://tdc.my/home/146-aula-tenkeyless-mec...ry-mx-blue.html If you want cheap tkl, can try to find ducky g2pro tkl. It is already EOL but if you managed to find, it would usually go for <Rm200. It uses authentic cherry MX switches.Any comment or suggestion of this keyboard? It say cherry mx blue, it is true? How cherry mx can be sell so cheap? This post has been edited by ck.chunkeat: Mar 22 2015, 11:21 PM |

Btw guys, i just bought a tai hao double shot abs in dolch color scheme. Everything was fine except the slightly off centered y key, which causes it to be a little to the left side, some shine in the number 6,7,8, and also the tight fit which makes it quite hard to pull out.
I heard many cases of people breaking their cherry mx switches when they pull off the tight keycaps. So I applied some vaseline before putting it in. My question is, is vaseline actually okay for the plastic on the switch and keycaps? Or do I need to wipe them off now? |

QUOTE(whatsayyou @ Apr 1 2015, 07:34 PM) anyone using CM storm quickfire rapid-i? do your leds die within a month of use? If you try to search this thread or the previous thread (V26), you can see that people do report led failure for boards with led. That's why I wanted to save the hassle and money and just go with a board without led.i'm using the browns. 1st keyboard, one led wasnt working. returned it. now on the 2nd keyboard, the led for B is not working after 1 month of use.... am i that unlucky??? |

QUOTE(Adrian_Alastair @ Apr 6 2015, 06:34 PM) Thick PBT, I've tried hours ago, yellowing still remains. It's either you go all in and invest on good end game caps once and for all, or if you just want something which is not yellow, then you can go ahead and buy some cheap caps. Time to invest on new keycap sets. I'm considering doubleshot ABS keycaps sold at Heavy-Arm, any thoughts? I bought one cap similar to those selling at heavy-arms, they aren't that thick, some of the caps are actually very tight, make me think twice when I wana pop them out, and worse of all, some of the caps aren't aligned in the center, you can see that after you pop them in, they are slightly to the left or right. Good thing about them is that the colors are nice and it's cheap. Not sure whether it's problem with my batch or all of it also like that. >.< If it's thick pbt, you might want to continue using them instead of getting the tai-hao thin double shot abs available at heavy-arms. |

QUOTE(KittehDispenser @ Apr 7 2015, 02:03 PM) That's totally what my bro mindset right now . Only way to answer that question is to try it out yourself. Doesn't matter what other people say or comment about the types of switches. I always think , why Taiwan company like filco or ikbc do a lot of event at Malaysia ? They can totally earn a lot of money lol Well screw my brother . BTW sifu , is brown switch use for double tapping is easier than the 20$ keyboard ? Most important is you try it out yourself and decide which type of switch you like more. Some might like brown, some red, some black, some blue. Everyone have their own tastes. |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Apr 13 2015, 07:36 PM) That battle scarred filco. I didn't really like it the first time you post it here. But looking at it now at a different angle, that thing is actually quite nice. Just that the blue doesn't really suit it IMO. But overall good job! |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Apr 14 2015, 12:36 AM) Is it suit now? I prefer this than the blue one more. ![]() I think pure black or pure white keycaps will match it better... But, meanwhile... I just leave it as this state 1st. But looking forward to see what mods you can do to make the keycaps a matching theme. try not to overdo it as its quite a heart ache to see a heavily scared filco. |

QUOTE(CAL V @ Apr 25 2015, 07:02 PM) Thanks for pointing that out to me, I just posted a log over there. I'm not sure whether is this a wrong place for it but I wouldn't mind seeing the pics and stuff. But my stuff are not in yet, so I've just listed down all the stuff that will be included in this build. Should be able to post some pics next week. Well, it is a little sad to see no place for such build here.. |

QUOTE(ZR46 @ Apr 26 2015, 09:31 AM) Hehe..But I at first I don know what best switch that can makes me feel use membrane. So, if I don use MKB (if go CC use membrane KB) at least my 'feel' is not lost My advice, go test it out yourself on the demo set. I highly believe that once you used mechanical keyboard, you will not like the feel of membrane. Even saying that, I can still use the chiclet keyboard on laptops and the membranes on uni comp lab just fine. Maybe it's just me, but a keyboard is still a keyboard no matter what. Just that the only difference is whether you bottom out or not and the feedback is a little different. Else, if you want something closer to membrane feel, you can try out topre switches. Some people said that it feels like a better membrane switch( these people didn't like topre ). While others say topre are the end game keyboard. If you like topre, no other switches will come close in terms of feel. Just today, there's a reddit thread on r/dota2 which says one of the player actually uses a topre keyboard in a lan tournament. http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/33u...an_ibm_model_m/ This post has been edited by ck.chunkeat: Apr 26 2015, 12:44 PM |

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Apr 26 2015, 01:29 PM) Yea, i just watched a video of someone reviewing the keyboard. First time i found out that there's variable weight in a keyboard. More keyboard science to learn. Still, I don't really understand why he chose to use a keyboard with variable weights for gaming. Consistency is one of the highest requirement imo,for gaming. Btw guys, I noticed that when I type on the keyboard. Sometimes there will be duplicated characters coming out. It happens randomly and occasionally. I'm not sure whether it's because of faulty switches or because of my own way of typing which causes it to double press without me knowing. Anyway,it is not restricted to a certain key. When it happens, I will try to check that particular key and tried pressing on it a few times to see whether it happens again but sadly I wasn't able to reproduce the double character output no matter how slow/fast I click or tap or double tap( double tap will have 2 characters, no additional characters ). So I kinda feel like it's not a problem with the switches. This post has been edited by ck.chunkeat: Apr 26 2015, 01:52 PM |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Apr 26 2015, 06:46 PM) What keyboard you're using? yea, some mentioned about cleaning the switch will solve it. I'm using a Ducky g2pro. I think this thing has been sitting on the shelf for quite some time. >.<Last time, my Razer BWU Chroma got this problem too. Based on what I've researched, it says it's due to some residues in the switches. Cleaning them properly and add grease/lube should fix the problem. Guess I'll just live with it if it's not too consistent. Don't really have time to solder, take out the switch, clean it and put it back. |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Apr 27 2015, 01:25 AM) Are your cable works done yet, master? But I thought opening the housing of the switches requires desoldering the switch first?Me need to buy lehhhh... I don't need you need to desolder the switches completely. Just open up the top housings of the switches, blow out the dust and also add grease to the springs. Some said clean with alcohol. |

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Apr 27 2015, 02:34 AM) Yup. For plate-mount like Ducky board, you need to desolder the switch then only can open the housing. QUOTE(justordinary @ Apr 27 2015, 02:40 AM) Thanks for clarification. I've been thinking of opening the switch before but found out that I can't do that on my board without desoldering. The plate mount switch which is removable without soldering is due to the special plate designed for phantom keyboard.Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a 60% board for portable traveling. I'm thinking of using gateron switches. Last time I calculated the cost for 1 switch including shipping from taobao would cost around rm1 per switch roughly. So i guesss it's roughly rm60-rm80 there. Is it cheaper to get a ready made 60% board or is it cheaper to get a custom board? |

QUOTE(justordinary @ Apr 27 2015, 12:18 PM) Cheaper to get ready made. Thanks for the rough estimation. Gateron switches - Rm75 Stabilizers - Rm30 Switch stickers - Rm20 Switch lube - Rm35-40 Switch spring - Rm20-40 Stabilizer lube - Rm ?? LEDs - Rm15 Diodes+Resistors - Rm10 60% PCB - Rm100+- 60% plate - Rm45 60% aluminium case - Rm200+- Mini USB cable - Rm15 Total of about - Rm550? Here's a breakdown of estimated prices on making a custom 60% board. Prices are not 100% right depending on what you wanna get. PCB price is based on GH60 and not korean PCB. You've got to top up more for that. Prices are direct converted and haven't factor in shipping prices. Hmm, I think I wouldn't use stickers, leds etc. Is acrylic case cheaper than aluminium case? But then it will still be very expensive. I was thinking of getting a ready made stock keyboard one but I wanted to use gateron switches. Or should I find some chinese keyboards which uses gateron switch? |
