even if the RM gains back its momentum, the price is likely to remain like that.

that's just Malaysia way of business. Only up but no down.

Food and other essential stuff yes. Not sure about camera market tho. Most seller tends to spoil the market by selling at super low price. Take the Nikon D750 for instance. RRP should be around close to 7k and you can see our local seller here knocked down the price to 5k++ and killed the D610's secondhand value. Bad news for those who wants to sell their camera. Good new to those who are shopping for one.

Just my 0.06 cents worth of personal opinion... Cheers..... icon_rolleyes.gif

u can actually buy import set 24-70 for rm5.5k here.
it should also have international warranty, so why bother going SG to buy?
or as mentioned, just buy used for rm4.5k or so.

If I go in and out of SG on a frequent basis, I'll still buy it in SG since it's RM 300 less. Some more I get to claim back SG's 7% (or rather 5%) GST if I travel via airport.

QUOTE(shohoku_14 @ Apr 8 2015, 05:34 PM)
thanks to all sifu's reply, and in between time yes i found several shop in klang valley selling grey set, 1 year local warranty, and i think it is sufficient for me... i did call and ask the shop whether the price listed is inclusive GST or not, and they replied already include GST... cheapest i found grey set is around 5390 which sell by miyamondo, and they have several branch in klang valley, include Taipan USJ, sunway pyramid, PJ uptown, and inside Tesco Kepong Village... maybe i will buy from them when i pay a visit to KL...  brows.gif

2nd hand set, yes it always will be my 1st choice, as i know 2nd hand will be cheaper, but hard to find nice 2nd hand set, especially with box, hood, case etc... and yes the price range is from 4.4-4.7k... anyway still doing research on it which type shall i go, 2nd hand or grey set, but for sure nikon malaysia set is out of range, as the price is too high, after GST inclusive..    cry.gif  unsure.gif

Box and all is not important. More importantly is to know that the 2nd hand unit is reliable and not banged up. But to know for certain that the 2nd hand unit is in pristine condition is quite hard for an untrained and unsuspecting person. I know this because I take care of my stuff very well but even then, my 24-70 which I bought brand new some time back already has a stiff zoom ring. rolleyes.gif

If you do a search, there's quite a lot more serious problems that can happen with the 24-70. Do a search. Cost for repair can be quite costly depending on the fault and repair.

So to pay 4.5k for a 2nd hand unit when the cost of repair can be 1k or more is not worth it. Better save a jump for a brand new unit. Grey set. My 2 cents.

Tamron 15-30mm is damn bulky and heavy. Way bulkier and heavier than my N24-70. Whenever I hold the lens have to be extra careful not to drop the keg.

Congrats. rclxms.gif Your samples look good. Good alternative to the 14-24. Nice to know that it reaches to 30mm.

If you fly into SG, I think you should consider it very much. I believe after 5% GST rebate, the lens is around RM 5k.

Ask Nikon SC and see if you need a lubrication service to solve the squeak sound problem. My AF-S 80-200mm f/2.8 was done for free.

Aiks... Upon looking up, perhaps you can get close to the price in SG at RM 5190 but not sure if it's inclusive of GST.

Hello guys. I am new here. Help me to decide. I want to buy a telephoto lens for my d7100. I shoot mostly outdoor. Its Between nikkor 70-300vr and tamron sp 70-300vc. I like the tamron design but which one give better quality photo? I saw somebody sell them at exact same price. Thanks in advance.
