I really envy you Cybermaster. Everytime you pose a question, sifus will come out from the woods or from their hibernation mood to help you. I have never even seen some of the sifus here before.

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Apr 27 2015, 05:00 PM) Let me summarise the issue here. I know about being black and red. That's not the concern. Are some of your investments still "hanging" in cyberspace? i.e. still in switch mood or buy mood? My current value is lower than my total investment. If I go to 'analyse my portfolio' it shows a profit but on my dashboard under the 'profit' column it shows a negative So my concern was why is there a difference? . Or you are suffering losses on some of your current investments but overall you have made profit from day one since you invested in FSM as shown in "analyse my portfolio". |

I think overall ive made a profit since my I started my UT journey in July 2014. Or you are suffering losses on some of your current investments but overall you have made profit from day one since you invested in FSM as shown in "analyse my portfolio". But why would FSM have two different dashboards that show different P&L? |

QUOTE(yklooi @ Apr 27 2015, 12:29 PM) Yes, i do have some back up ...that can last 4 yrs of down turns... I don't have HSAQ and HSAO in my portfolio so I can't comment much. I would prefer to add/include the following as part of my core portfolio:-was thinking of 4 cores and 4 satellites GTF 20% HSAQ 20% HSAO 20% KGF 20% TA European 5% (compliment GTF..to sell when PE valuation are high) Jpn Growth Fund 5% (compliment GTF..to sell when PE valuation are high) Manulife India 5% (to sell when PE valuation are high) China Focused 5% (to sell when PE valuation are high) what you think of the arrangement?.... Can get 8% ROI pa for 90% of the times?... (1) GTF; (2) Aberdeen World; (3) KGF; (4) EISC; (5) Ponzi 2; and (6) One of the Asia Pacific (ex Japan) from Kenanga or Eastspring fund houses (optional). I think your supplementary portfolio can be spiced up a bit if you can take the heat. See for e.g.:- (1) Libra Consumer and Leisure Asia Fund; (2) Franklin US Opportunities (I think you will qualify); and (3) RHB-OSK Asia Financial Funds. Best of luck Mr. Looi. One last note Mr. Looi.
I think we need to aim higher. 8% ROI seems a bit too low compared to the risk that we are taking. I mean we are talking about potentially 20% to 30% of our investment being wiped out on paper within 1-2 years. A 10% ROI will only translate effectively into a real return of 6.8% (after taking inflation into account). Therefore a 8% ROI will translate into a real return of....? Therefore although it may sound ambitious, we need to aim for a ROI of 10% to 12.6% a year. Is this possible? I think so. But can it be guaranteed in a short term investment? I don't think so. |

How does UT investment compare with ASB I wonder. Clean 7.5-8.0% interest minus the considerable risk.

Nice investment value btw =D Yes that's what I figured. The 'view holdings' page reflect your profit/loss based on your current holdings while the 'analyse your portfolio' page gives you a profit/loss number by comparing your total investment against your current total fund valuation. |

If you qualify to buy ASB with unlimited quota, then no need to buy UT in Malaysia. It does not justify the risk and the time spent. I only started investing back in unit trust since December 2014 with FSM. Before that, it was a rigged game with sales fee of 5% to 6% for UT. When you bet against the casino, you want to improve your odds of winning. But with a sales fee of 5% to 6%, sadly, it was a loser's game. Retail investors will only win when the sales fee drop to 0% or 0.5% permanently with all equity funds. Wishful thinking? Perhaps. But I thought they have zero sales fee for FSM Singapore? ASB has a limited quota of RM 200k, but in my opinion, it is better to invest in unit trust rather than ASB if you are investing in the long term.
ASB only provide a consistent return of 7-8% while unit trust in long term is very likely to outperform this return as long as you pick out the right funds. Even the difference of 1-2% return per annum is actually a huge difference in the long term. ASB is great for short-term savings or investment (below 10 years), but for me, taking some risk in unit trust is much more worth it for long term investment. Also, you can actually get lower sales fee if you take advantage of discounts or negotiate fees with your licensed financial planner. |

Sensex Sheds 1,867 Points in 9 Days; Nifty Turns Red For 2015
QUOTE The Sensex has now corrected by 6.5 per cent or 1867 points in the last nine sessions. Suddenly, it seems that there's something terribly wrong with domestic markets QUOTE The current weakness coincides with selling by foreign institutional investors, who have sold equities worth $650 million in the last eight sessions. FIIs have turned jittery because the tax department has been sending notices to asset managers asking them to pay Minimum Alternate Tax on capital gains made during previous years http://profit.ndtv.com/news/market/article...for-2015-758514 |
