Saw this really late, but disappointing update

Maxis and tm came today to do the device upgrade but just gave a normal fibre home one.

Port is still gigabit not 2.5gbps, and I still can’t reach 1gbps, same as before

After I come back from trip will bully maxis into giving me 2.5gbps one because forced me to recontract for same speed
*
What was swapped? The ONU/modem or WiFi router or both? From what I understand, the ONU/modem will have a 2.5GE LAN port, while if there is no upgrade on the WiFi router, the max speed will be approx 930Mbps+- (balance missing due to overhead).

Only way to get 1Gbps nett speed or even 1.2Gbps (for areas that are NGBB) is to upgrade the damn router too, to one with a 2.5GE WAN and LAN port.

This would be great if they were doing it that way.
But I think reading what sadlyfalways was writing I'd assume as he mentioned Fiberhome ONU likely is TM's standard GbE option.
Skyworth should be used for 2.5 GbE if I recall correctly.

Either way as this AR1840 seems to be their choice of router for 2Gbps customers this thing remains very unsatisfying given it's coming with 2.5GbE WAN but 1GbE LAN ports. Unless you change to a custom router, that is.

Hello yes, the ONU they replaced my old one with only has a 1gbps port.

My router does have 2.5gbe and 10gbps sfp+, and from the picture you can see that it is only negotiating with the modem at old speeds sadly.

maximum speeds same as before, around 930mbps sad.gif

The model quoted is wrong. For 1Gbps and below, it's the Kaon AR2140, which has only 1GE WAN and 1GE LAN port. The lower range plans gets only other brand, either TP-Link or Huawei. For 2Gbps, it's Kaon AR2448, which is a tri-band, WiFi6E model. That has a 2.5GE WAN port and one 2.5GE LAN port.

Hence, for those subscribing to 2Gbps, possible to get 2Gbps on a single machine with Maxis Fibre, unlike TM UniFi, which is not possible.

Which package did you subscribe to? 1Gbps, right? If that's the case, pretty sure you are entitled for a 2.5GE port ONU from TM. With that, you should be able to hit 1Gbps nett, no less, since your router has a 2.5GE WAN port.

Can share the exact model of your ONU/modem?

Abang, read the FSU's FAQ.
No need to ask what had been answered.

Fiberhome gpon onu model HG6142A

The maxis guy who came today didn’t seem to know anything about 2.5gbps port, and was adamant that I am not recontracted for upgrading plan even though I am

The rule of thumb is, if you get a new device (which has a certain cost to it), then yes, you will be re-contracted. Most technicians from these service providers are short term and outsourced to 3rd party service providers. This is across the board (TM, TIME, Maxis Fibre, CelcomDigi Fibre...etc) to all ISPs.

No indicator on the ONU/modem if the port is normal GE or a 2.5GE?

Maxis back end not in sync.

Apply upgrade (via app) on 22/11/2023 evening. Got sms notification of upgrade done on 25/11/2023 1pm.

Today (28/11/2023 10am) got sms that upgrade has been processed & the new speed "will be reflected within 48 hours". Ask to reboot router to enjoy new speed.

Halo, 25/11/2023 1pm already got upgrade speed already lah.

ZTE ZXHN-F620 ONU not capable of 800Mbps?
Huawei LG8245X6-10 not capable of 800Mbps?

No notification at all since last Thursday. Total silence.
Now only I learnt that I need to replace equipment.
No wonder upgrade never completed, unlike within 48hrs like other ktards' claimed.

I don't think i will proceed with the FSU then.

Can someone do a speed test using Maxis app? Is it normal for the speed to deviate so far from the subscribed speed? Can't get the actual upload speed on Maxis app but when doing speedtest on web then can achieve 50m.

Why I can't get full speed in speednet but can get full speed in maxis app?
