Hehe no la -- the key is moderation. Like I said, their main diet is their hamster mix -- the seeds, etc. The rest are good for them as added protein and nutrients. But as with everything in this world, too much of a good thing can turn out to be a very bad thing.

And yeah, careful with the watery products, can cause diarrhea.

You can research on the internet tongue.gif -- I haven't read an article that says apples and carrots cannot be fed. Also, they like bananas too. Give them once a week la. Just a tiny chunk for them to much on. Some like it -- some don't. Mine enjoy it as a treat.

In small amounts, they also appreciate mango, grape, and strawberry. Again, too much of a good thing is icky for them. Just remember that hehe.

Well, these are all precautions taken by hammie owners -- once again, the key is moderation. The only proven stuff that are dangerous for hammies to eat are human sweets, like chocolate or candy, salty food, garlic, onions, pickles, raw kidney beans, raw potatoes, etc.

I've been feeding my hammies with this diet for years and I've had hamsters for more than 6 years. They all live long lives. Just go with your gut instincts and also, research more so you yourself will be more confident with the diet that you want to feed them with.

All the best!

Wheatgerm oil for birds? I think it should be ok. Cod liver oil is also ok to feed but I don't suggest feeding from a bottle. Use the capsule type because it's neater and easier to give. Just pop the capsule with a clean needle and squeeze onto the mix in the bowl before feeding. Only put the oil into the bowl of mix when you're about the feed. For the wheatgerm oil, just put a few drops into the mix like the cod liver oil. The most you can use is only once a week.

About the cod liver oil, don't buy the cheap ones because some brands do not purify them properly and may contain harmful chemicals. To be on the safe side, use distilled cod liver oil.

Robo and a spot? The spotted, does it look like the 1st page hamsters? Robos should be housed with only their own kind, Robos... never mix different dwarf hamsters with Robos... robos are the smallest of hamsters, mixing them with other hamster breeds can be... well, dangerous... a campbell can kill a dwarf... a Syrian can easily kill any dwarf.

You hamsters got long tail or not? That picture is a chinese hamster, it has a longer tail, compare to most hamsters, their tails damn short, like 1cm while chinese hamsters got longer tails and a more mousy look.

Take pics of your hamsters lah.

Hamsters cannot be spayed or nuetered, too small and malaysian vets no experience on doing it on small animals like hamsters, damn risky hahah... Good that you bought 1 males thumbup.gif less breeding thumbup.gif

I feed mine according to their bowls, empty then I refill everyday. Remember to have good water supply for them.

The kuaci used for birds and hamsters do not contain salt, only the ones that we eat do have salt. But don't give too much as it's very fatty.

Do your spot hamsters bite? They're probably mottled campbells.

wat u mean molted campbells??
The seller told me that they r only around 2 months old. Whenever i put my finger in the cage, they do nibble, but mayb they're still small, it does'nt hurt. When i put them on my palm, they seldom nibs, but once a while they will. What they always do is they poo on my hand..... doh.gif

I'll try to post some pics later, so that the pros can identify my hammies......

Mottled is a colour pattern...

This is a normal mottled...

A russian campbell is the normal type of dwarf sold... quite rare to find Chinese hamsters especially in pasar malam... coz the only place with chinese hamsters is Pets Wonderland petshops... and it's a rare sight now...

The other types of dwarfs are russian winter whites and roborovskis.
