guys, i need help on my hammy. i just realize that he had hairloss
on his tummy at the right side of his body.

he started to stop playing wheel about 4/3 month ago. after playing
he kept scratching his belly, after a while he never play it anymore.
i don't see anything wrong with him. he's active as usual, xcept he don't
play wheel. and at first, the hair lost was just a little and i thought
it was a lump bitten by ant.

i've check with hamsterific illness guide. both mange & mites
caused by mites. i don't see any mites on him.
and i had another hamster in that cage but he wasnt infected at all.

i'm not sure if its ringworm or just the usual hairloss.. what should i do ?

cod-liver oil - scot imulsion can?
yeast tablet is on what ?

You also found that site? Actually, small animals means dogs and cats also included. The vets that open clinics are stated as small animals clinics but not all knows how to treat real small animals. It is only a term for domestic household pets....

Not really. Provided you supply enough protein for the mother. If the mother is too stress, she might eat her own baby to get enough protein for the rest of the baby. Some mother hamster is stressful with human interaction after it give birth. So touching it will also cause her to eat her baby too.

If diet is controlling well, and don't disturb her nursing her baby. The mother won't cannibalize it's own baby at 99%.

Coconut hut can get from Pets Family or Pet Safari or Natural Aquatic. A lot of pet stores have it la. It's about RM7-9 depending on where you get it from. My hamsters don't like the coconut huts -- it's also pretty useless for them since it's supposed to be elevated from the ground and hamsters are not into climbing much unless there's ladders, etc. I don't know -- mine's just not into using the coconut huts. tongue.gif I even tried placing it low on the ground for them and they still won't use it.

If you need to fatten them up, then it's okay to feed that much. I feed mine now with only 6 mealworms a day. I also feed my hammies with steamed chicken, turkey ham, eggs for added protein. And they love apple and carrots and small pieces of bread.

Out of curiosity, where did you get the information that apples and carrots cannot be fed to dwarf hammies? You can give apples and carrots twice a week. Dwarf hamsters can be allowed proportionately more vegetable matter than syrian hamsters. Apple, carrot, and even pear are better than vegetables (like cucumber) which have a high moisture content. Avoid feeding lettuce though.

Oh and with regards to the mealworms, well, my dwarf hammies each of them take one mealworm a day la -- sometimes half -- sometimes more. So altogether, I dish out about 6 mealworms a day for them all. Hehe. Up to you la -- it's best that they eat their mixture of seeds, etc. So the rest of these are just treats and extras. Bread also, I give twice a week only. Animal protein is important for them -- so you can give a bit of mealworms, crickets as well, and dog or cat biscuits. Just a bit. Sunflower seeds -- give sparingly, it's like junk food to them.

With regards to turkey ham and chicken -- you can offer these as treats as well. Not to be given as their main source of diet la. So once a week or twice a week just as well.

You can feed fruits everyday.... well, just small bits. If you only feed an apple or carrots as a staple diet, sure it will get diarheaa and diabetes... but small bits a day is healthy for dwarf hamsters. I feed mine all small bits of apples and carrots everyday. As long a bit is ok.

Choy Sum is good, bak choy also can but it has more water content that choy sum so feed little of that lah.
