QUOTE(Reanne @ Oct 2 2006, 01:27 PM)
About the lab blocks, anyone who has ordered from me will receive it on the day of the gathering. Please confirm with me via PM whether you still want it or not. smile.gif

A warning though, the blocks are not very suitable for dwarves such as robos and campbells, especially the robos, as they prefer seeds due to their size and nature in the wild. Some dwarves are stubborn and rather starve themselves than eat, so when introducing the blocks, make sure they eat it within 2 days. If they do not consume it in 2 days, then it is better if you stick with whatever you were feeding them previously.

These are much more suitable for syrians and winter whites. I have found difficulty feeding the blocks only to robos and campbells. But there are exceptions to this as 5 of my robos refused it, while 3 other robos loved it.

Nope, not wet...haizz...sometimes this  hamy always scare me..will bring to the vet this saturday, just to check him out anyway. sweat.gif

And this hamy is so clever !!!Once,i forgot to close the cage door tightly. The next day, when i wanted to play wit my hamy,he's not in the cage, shocking.gif I was so worried because my room got a lot of wire .I search and search my room he was hiding behind the closet there shakehead.gif So naughty!!! Since then,im always careful and make sure the cage door is shut tightly.
My hamy a bit stink, can i  bath him??Put him in a small bowl with lil bit of bubble shampoo??So he'll smell better..can i do that???
*
DO not ever bath a hamster.... if you do not do carefully, can die... or get terribly sick with cold... better you just get dry powder shampoo for small animals and use on your hamster rather than put him at risk.

u can bath a hamster, but then u need to do it carefully.
for me, i got bath with my 2 hamster.
but then straight after after bath i clean them with dry clean cloth.
then blow them with hair dryer, so that they will get a bit heat.
the hair cooler is blow hot a bit only, then jus wind blow,
if not, u keep on hot blow, they not die of cold instead of hot.
*
But when hair dryer too hot, can burn a hamster.... so is either die of cold or get burned from hot dryer... so must really do carefully.

wow, how come ur hamsters are so tame? mine, everytime i even touch them, they jump in fright and rush away. why why why? i've never hurt them so this is not some kind of trauma thing. In fact, i stopped touching since the time shmoosh nibbled on me/tried to bite my finger off.
*
you bought from breeder or petshop? If never tame since young, or the parents of the hamsters are wild or aggressive, then their offspring will also be like that. Normally those from petshop get little human contact, so they are slightly harder to tame than direct from a good breeder.

OMG!Hun I want him!!! To be honest, I nvr saw long haired syrian before in my real life (except on the net/books.so jakun right?tongue.gif). Geez..if u breed 'em, put me in ur waiting list can arr?

ahem anyways, first post in here. Just realized my name is in the 1st post. Hi guys, am a proud owner of 2 hybrids hehe. One is taken care by my bf, she's getting fatter and fatter day by day (if we put her in the running ball, she'll run for less than 5 min..then Zzzzzz  doh.gif ). Another one, my mom wants to take care of her (mom so much noise that i hav to giv in  dry.gif ). Missing my lil furball..only hav spikeball with me here now hehe.
*
HAhaha... cute ah? You coming to gathering or not? Maybe I will bring Caesar along, well, just a maybe only.

OH, I don't breed Syrians heheheh.... you get from Reanne lah... but she is not gonna breed anymore. Now she got her last litter, then she will stop... maybe continue breeding in a few years time.

Miss your hybrids heheheh....

QUOTE(prophet007 @ Oct 5 2006, 09:51 PM)
hybrids? is is tat WW mix with campbell or someting like tat? i heard not healthy one woh....
*
Yah, hybrids is a mix of WW and campbell. Coz the petshop she bought from sold hybrids... well, petshop, cannot do anything also. Faerie is not breeding them, just keeping them as pets only.

mine i think is mixed WW+robo. That time didnt know leh, cause 2 tanks at the petshops say "WW". But the one I got was 5bucks expensive than the other one.Later confirmed by Hun it was hybrids, cause we both went on the same day. They are pretty healthy, except seems retarded oso la haha  tongue.gif
yuppo. I dont intend to breed tho, thats why i got 2 females.

Hun : me wanna go!! can see gerbils and all, esp Connie's Amy!but then u know la, fasting month..pretty challenging hahah moreover my mom wants me to do some shopping zzzzz..i'll see if I can make it! Geez, he's really cute!whats with the name? lol u're creative with the names!
*
Hahaha.... impossible mixed with robo coz robo sort of different species already.... only campbells and WW can interbreed.

i found out from Petsmore, they told me those hamsters all hybrids... well, at least they told me before I purchase lah. As long healthy, they do make good pets heheheh....

Aiyah, we will move on to Pet Safari after makan.... so if free, maybe can go there tengok tengok loh heheheh...

Caesar... well, he is just adventurous... explore my whole room and very gentle... well, that name just came into my mind hahah...

QUOTE(the_catacombs @ Oct 6 2006, 04:52 AM)
actually i got question... i've never feed my hamster with mealworm before... if i start feeding them, will they turn aggressive??... i've suggested to my gf to feed them mealworm but she afraid they will lose their cuteness and start being aggressive...

besides, my hamsters seems to get bored with sunflower seed adi.... haha... give them also tak mau.....
*
You feed chicken, fish, beef, bones, mealworms, crickets... won't go aggressive, that is just a myth lah. Why follow a myth? If read books, can feed meat and eggs... this gives high protein, makes the fur glossier and grow better quality. Also, it gives hamster the chubbiness.

QUOTE(long3016 @ Oct 6 2006, 06:55 AM)
i feed my hamster eat cricket b4 but still not aggresive. depend on hamster itself.. am i right??? pls correct if i wrong.
*
It is the upbringing and breeding of the hamster. If petshop hamsters, they got high chance of biting since they got bad experience with people or have never been held before.

Animals do not become aggressive from eating any sort of meat.

QUOTE(Suet @ Oct 6 2006, 10:14 AM)
Sigh. Guys, you need to know Syrians are the best starter hamsters for first time owners. Not campbells, not Chinese, or Robos even. That way, you eliminate your fear right away with the most gentle breed from the start. smile.gif It's like keeping a Shih Tzu first before keeping a Rottweiler or hyperactive Jack Russell. Sort of only lah. smile.gif

Who's goin to the gathering, can we have people there with cams? happy.gif Capture my new fat puddings in action hehe.
*
Wahhh.... can see your puddings hahahah....

It all depends on the hamster's upbringing and also the breeding condition. Pet shops get their stock from commercial breeders, have you seen the way they breed? Really terrible wan, maybe 1 cage got 1 to 3 males and about 10 to 20 females... all breed in crowded space and of course the hamsters are aggressive and moody in such a condition.

So always get from a breeder. Really, worth every penny coz it does make a difference. I used to have Syrians from petshop, they bite but after get one from Reanne, so tame I so love the hamster now....

Now I'm breeding winter whites.... well, closest to what I can get lah for WW coz many in Malaysia are so terribly hybrid liao....

Anyway... a nice litter of 5 were born last night, and so fast 2 got booked hahahah.... Well, they are lucky.
