Also have to consider tanks that compatible with Malaysian terrain, don't just buy willy-nilly buy modern tanks just bcoz they look cool. Pics of tanks bogged down in palm oil estate won't help very much with public opinion. Plus can be used by certain people for political mileage.

Cmiiw the ground pressure of a tracked vehicle is lower than a wheeled vehicle. With that kind of mud even a Wheeled IFV would got stuck in that mud.

China has sell a lot of their type 59 MBT to many African countries, Bangladesh, Vietnam (during the Vietnam war), Pakistan, and Iraq-Iran.

Their F-7 type aircraft is a hit too with many air forces like Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Myanmar and so on.

If western tanks, Leclerc almost fits the bill (3-men crew, autoloader), only snag is heavy (62 ton) and expensive as fark ($6M USD).

I heard UAE have some problem with their leclerc.

support asia, K2 used same auto loader mechanic as leclerc. Thus, the rather similar flat turret

I think t84 oplot m oso quite fit the bill plus got good electronics and aps and atgm
T90 bhishma oso looking good as well
Pt-91m seems a bit lacking unless we fit active protection to it
Overall my fav is pt-91m with leds aps (would be nice if we could at least assemble it brows.gif)
*
PT-91 is fine for now. We just need the heavier ERA. The ERAWA maybe fine againt HEAT, but i have doubt about it's capability against APFSDS.

Maybe can replace with something like kontakt 5?? Afterall they're just blocks stuck onto the hull right?

Funny anecdote from Ukraine civil war.
Russian volunteer with military experience teach separatists to remove ERA blocks from totalled Ukraine government tanks to use for demolition charge or IED. When they actually get a tank, they find out the blocks were empty of explosives, only the metal cover is left. Turns out Ukraine gov soldiers removed them and sold the explsoives on black market earlier.

french is in midst of upgrading their leclerc while still delivering UAE ones

UAE wanted their subsequent delivery to be upgraded to the same france level but france dont want unless UAE pay.

Something like l order 20 car from proton, on the 10th car, Proton introduce a new improved model but on my remaining 10 order, Proton dont not want to send the improved version and only send the previous version

something like that when i read around laugh.gif

UAE pay for leclarc development. Basically, French get it cheaper per unit thanks to UAE financial help

So there something along the line, UAE feel that they should not be left out. But it solved somehow

Currently watching Special Forces-Philippine Marine recon on History channel.

OMG, In the middle of parachute jump test (only using just ONE Huey helicopter no less, bcoz Pinoys totally don't have any flying airplanes) which landing zone is actually a village-side rice paddy field, complete with village children and herds of water buffalos running around (which is ridiculous in itself), as if compounding the sheer ridiculousness, the sole Huey helicopter was called away, mid-test, due to some of clashes with communist guerrillas in another part of country, so jump test is postponed a few days until helicopter is available.

It's so distressingly ridiculous, made me ROFL and shed tears in bewilderment at the ridiculousness of it all. laugh.gif

Go try watch PNP-SAF documentary, really long history involved in several political coup being on the side of the "people", while the military is on marcos side after that resulting in their decades of negligence and underfunding. All SAF operators black beret is earned after a test mission, encounter the enemy and come back alive then you can "graduate"

Oh well, that is all before the maguindanao massacre happened..

If wanna play that style, use Humvee with ATGM is sufficient for the role, no need armored vehicles. Cheaper and more economical to use, also smaller silhouette, can hide better.

Indonesian military to increase number of personnel guarding borderlines

Minggu, 15 Februari 2015 10:47 WIB | 328 Views

Nunukan, N Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) will increase the number of its personnel to guard Indonesia-Malasyia borderlines, a military commander has said.

"We are planning to increase the number of soldiers who will be assigned to guard and maintain security along the border areas," Brig Gen Teguh Arief Indratmo, the chief of 091/ASN Military Resort of VI Mulawarman Regional Military Command, said here over the weekend.

He said that now there were 33 security guard posts along the border areas. The number will be increased to 50. The new posts will be built in strategic coordinate points.

The security posts will be built in border areas which are very difficult to be reached by soldiers now. "Of course this plan needs strategic considerations, assessment and surveys," he added.

Indratmoko said his side was still considering the number of soldiers to man the new 17 posts.

"The number of personnel for each of the post will differ from one to another, depending on the conditions in the area," he said.(*)

Philippines army back then was the extension of US army. When the Philippines generals need something, they just called pentagon and it'll be promptly delivered free of charge. When US withdraw, they suddenly found out how costly and complicated it is to supply and equipped a modern army.
