Its Supposed to be worn with comms equipment, better than the alternative i guess which is skating helmets

They're made of what anyway? I don't see it as being made of ballistic Kevlar. I don't get why SF guys prefer wearing these kinds of helmets.

The idea is more situational awareness, and less weight, compared to normal ballistic helmet

Cost is ballistic protection. Doesn't look like can even stop shrapnel, especially those ridiculous plastic skateboard helmets Delta Force used to wear. laugh.gif

Some sort synthetic ceramic ballistic bullshit, the idea is that it provides the same protection as the standard helmet at 1/2 the weight and 5 times the price, songlap king helmet

The reason is that it doesnt have the tunnel vision effect of the standard issue helmets and is compatible with a wider range of headsets and also the weight

It works pretty well but at a cost of being disposable,it shatters on impact

I don't think we gonna stray away far from the T series, as they ady use the base to train and develop doctrine from the pt91m
Well, maybe they could get away from the russian tanks but I still reckon it gonna be under 50-tonnes class
*
That still depend on decision maker whether they wan to cont with T-series.
I think they might put in fibau, esscom and networks with western system into consideration.
Yup weights requirements still pretty much in the books.
The latest t-90 barely pass the weight requirements though.

Also have to consider tanks that compatible with Malaysian terrain, don't just buy willy-nilly buy modern tanks just bcoz they look cool. Pics of tanks bogged down in palm oil estate won't help very much with public opinion. Plus can be used by certain people for political mileage.

t90 also bog down on mud before. Not all tank not even lightest can truthfully run on swamp area. Unless it a amphibious vehicle

the crew requirement is still the same
just that they need to familiarize driving a heavier and wider vehicle. I also read before that K2 can be mod for wider track due to korean experience during korean war. Plus, the vehicle thermal insulation can be removed since we dont have winter here

turkey "Altay" is worse at 60+ton. Dunno what they add until even heavier than the original K2

Malaysia not premium tank country. Prolly more suited to FIBUA and skirmishes than full-on tank-on-tank orgies. IMHO lighter tanks should also be considered rather than exclusively looking at 50 ton + behemoths that prolly would get stuck the in first mud pit it finds. laugh.gif

Standard NATO tanks, 55-65 tonnes is normal
East asian (k2, type10) tanks is blardy expensive..

So the requirement is 3 men crew, autoloader, 50 tonnes class (maybe max 55)
Is there a non-russian tanks that fill all this?

I seriously doubt we will see any mbt orgies party with current warfare.
I think we would pretty much play av8 atgm hit and run against enemy mbt. laugh.gif

If western tanks, Leclerc almost fits the bill (3-men crew, autoloader), only snag is heavy (62 ton) and expensive as fark ($6M USD).

If wanna play that style, use Humvee with ATGM is sufficient for the role, no need armored vehicles. Cheaper and more economical to use, also smaller silhouette, can hide better.

Certainly fit the bill, but politically not so expedient.
