QUOTE(dzi921 @ Feb 9 2008, 12:56 PM) My mother bought Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 when I was young (don't have IC then) Now I plan to sell it off. 1) Where do I sell it? 2) What is the procedure? What documents do I need to bring? 3) Do I need my mother to be there? Try to go to PNB's agent ie RHB Bank, CIMB bank, Maybank or post malaysia and ask them first. Try bringing your book and IC and Surat Beranak. Maybe your mother need to come as well, but better you check at the agent first before dragging your mother there. Added on February 11, 2008, 4:53 pmQUOTE(uk9089 @ Feb 11 2008, 04:42 PM) Wanna ask 1 more thing most important. Im as a bumi. Can i buy ASW2020 anytime i want or i must wait for the govt to issue the fund? For bumi anytime. But why not ASB instead? Better dividend based on historical data. QUOTE(uk9089 @ Feb 11 2008, 12:17 PM) Im planning to open a ASB. Im a sabah bumiputra. My dad kazadan but my mom chinese. Since im following my dad, im bumi . Is it? Correct me if im wrong. I have ASW2020 but i don't have ASB. After read all these. I see ASB quite interesting in the return compare to ASW2020 It means that i can deposit my money up to RM200k for ASB and unlimited for ASW2020 is it? [attachmentid=396291] If i invest RM100k and keep it for 10 years. I will actually get RM100k interest for 10 years. WOW. That with 7% interest. I am your opposite...my dad a chinese and my mom a kadazan...I am not a bumi... all my money I throw to my mom's asb, if full, I will throw to her siblings's and cousin's asb. its usually higher than 7 percent, if the asb account is more than 10 years old,the account is entitled to enjoy extra year end bonus which increase around 1-2 percent extra.

If bumiputra always look for asb first. Then only ASW or ASM. If u bumiputra, u don't have to worry about limitations. There's always slots to put in your investments unlike non bumi. If u like to do research and reading, go for more adventure and risk involvements such as stocks, unit trust, properties etc. That's it. Simple

in the wake of the GE result, i expect gov will ask ASNB to sell some asw/asm to make rakyat happy. of course it will help them a little if they do so.
still, my opinion is that asnb should come out with a fixed unit trust fund that are open to all MALAYSIAN (bumi/non-bumi) but limit it to let say 25k each. It will give some 20++mill malaysian to get the same treatment. make it like asb. as long as you have a blue ic you'll be able to open it. what say you all?
p.s. i doubt that will happen.

Thats really a lot of fund to manage. Around 5 times what PNB is currently having and much bigger that EPF's current 312 billion. It will be a real challenge to do so. its just an idea. perhaps if they were to take on my idea, they reduce it to 10k only. if 10k it's only 200b. still, not everybody will put money into the new unit trust. most prob, existing asb unitholder will max out their asb first then venture out to the new ones. the new one will be more eye pleasing to non-bumi which has fully utilise asw unit.
just my 2 cent opi only.

Its really interesting to look at. If we take Malaysia estimated population of 27 million, and compare to ASB number of account holders of 6 million, means that around 22 percent of the population invested in ASB. As you are aware ASB is for bumi only, the number of potential non-bumi investor is unknown. But lets say its the same of 6 million (which should most probable be much more) putting a marely 5k cap will give 6 million x 5k = 30 billion. More than half of ASB size.
Well I guess it seems to me that it will be difficult to open for all people and put cap since, the cap will need to be very small, ie less than 5k or else the fund size will be very big. So maybe the current method, where most people don't get it, but some get say 50k, will be prefered than the ALL people get it with only 5k cap. More people means more transactions cost and (more complain??).
Your 2sen plus my 2sen, we now got 4sen.
