i wonder who on earth told you this. its been noted for a long time the ceiling is 200k.

Added on January 3, 2008, 4:00 pm

not exactly i think. credit officers from the bank youre applying the loan can see the asb loan (assuming 100k) is with collateral. they could figure your monthly commitment is not as much even though you take 100k the most you pay monthly is around RM600? basically asb is a very safe investment. as good as fd but with more than double the returns. bumis who have excess funds are advised to invest in asb.
*
Then do you can really confirm me that ASB limit is only till RM200K??
My gf work in the bank, thats why i say ASB limit for Bumiputera is not till RM200K only,it depends..if you don't believe,go check at the bank...

QUOTE(kriel @ Jan 3 2008, 04:24 PM)
Limit for ASB is still RM200k. Never more than that. But i knew people which has more than RM500k in ASB. How come? Accumulate dividend. U can't invest more than RM200k since their system have a mechanism to control how much you have bought/sold.
*
Yes,most of the customer also thought ASB limit is only up to RM200K,but it's NOT!
It depends also to PNB........

the limit is 200k, the reason some one has more than 200k in their asb is because of accumulation from past investment.

to make it simple, 200k is the maximum amount of money that you can put into an asb account, but theres no limit to how much the investment will accumulate from its compounded dividend

for exampl, today I invest 180k into my asb, 5 years later, my asb already have more than 300k in it, but I still can put another 20k because I haven't maximize my 200k quota.

I need pro to verify this too. coz not very sure. I might b wrong.

so theoritically speaking then the limit isn't 200k then??

given scenario, I invest 200k max to the limit, one year later got 250k (e.g), then I took out rm249,990 because I got emergency need to use the money and leave rm10 to keep the account active. then after that I still can invest rm199,990 into the same account ah??

sorry bit confused here... rclxub.gif

Hi guys. Yesterday I was looking at an ASB loan advertisement from Maybank and noticed something. If you borrow RM20k for 5 years, at the end of the period you will get RM5k extra. I don't really quite understand. Normally you will get RM9+ if you save RM20k assuming you get 8% return per annum but if you borrow from the bank, in 5 years time you will get RM14k+ (9k+5k). I really dont understand, and could someone please explain?

ahahaha....I think you misunderstood the term 5k extra...

what its supposed to mean was, you borrow 20k from bank, 5 years later, what ever the investment had increse, the bank will only give you 5k, the rest they take as loan repayment and loan interest. whistling.gif

but my cousin said you cannot take the money out from asb, they will keep the book. scared you will use the money and go kaput.

so literally speaking, the bank is giving you free money of 5k over the period of 5 years.

its more or less like fixed deposit la I would say. but instead of you need to fork out money yourself as in normal fixed deposit, this asb loan give you money to put in this fixed deposit smile.gif

Added on January 9, 2008, 5:11 pmadd on, in my opinion asb loan is only good if you really don't have the money.

another option is, you know there are lots of non bumi want to invest in asb but they can't, so they look around bumis that can share with them, the non bumi supply the money, the bumi open asb account, then they will share the dividend. try ask any of ur non bumi fren if they interested smile.gif

which one is better is depends on bank loan interest vs dividend sharing with your partner, and some terms and condition, so u might want to do some calculation.

hmm....their system must b complicated... hmm.gif

another scenario...hehe

I invested 180k 1st time, 2 years later I got 250k, I take out 249,990. then when I want to reinvest again, 249,990 is the maximum amount that I can reinvest without using my credit limit, and I can only top up another 20k maximum. am I right??

let me give example..

Loan 10K for 3 years
monthly about RM307.

After calculate, if i put RM 307 monthly at ASB without taking loan, in the end, i get more compare what loaner bank give...

ejan_,

To make a FAIR and CORRECT comparison , if you take a 10K loan, you do not have to pay RM307 every month.

After the first year, you could have take the 7% dividend = RM700 to pay the loan. So, in the second year, you only put in (RM307 X 12) - Rm700 = ?? ..

Ditto for year 3. Know how to calculate properly.

So, taking a 10K loan versus paying RM307 every month is NOT the same.

The bottom line is VERY SIMPLE. Is the ASB dividend rate higher than your ASB loan rate?? If yes, it is FREE MONEY. You could use the dividend to pay the interest and after a few years, you get the ASB with little money down.

Yes, i'm understand with you...
Btw, how about this?

with loan, dividend is shared with bank.
Without loan, dividend is totally ours. Even the amount is smaller..
After calculate, you will get more with same monthly amount..

Let say this.. average ASB dividend 7%. BLR about 6%. You will only get 1% every year if no changes. What if dividend low and BLR high? This is not fair... Bank win. Not win-win situation. We still need to pay. Not free money...

It is not advisable to take the loan in huge amount for example RM100k. What if you want to take another loan (house loan)? The ASB loan would be detrimental in this situation.

Another thing, when was the last time ASB made any losses or did it even happen?

If anyone of you wants to do autodebit for your ASB,ASW all you need are:

1)Photocopy of the first page of your account book (ASB,ASW) which contains all your particular.

2)Photocopy of your ic.

3)Pay slip (For government servers).

4)Approval from your employer.

For government workers, the forms must be sent to any ASNB offices or banks (If im not mistaken) but for private workers, send the form to your employer/head department.

For non-bumi, is this still applicable? Since, during normal days like this, we cant even buy it.
