surveying 4 LFS (only 2 open) around taman tun, jb..and i think i need some algae eater so my tank is under control.. laugh.gif

could you recommend any of this?.still searching for flying fox or SAE..but damn..those are hard to find..only manage to found CAE (aggressive but not an effective algae eater people says, i dunno)

i did want to try introduce shrimp for the problem, but is it easier to manage shrimp over fish?. hmm.gif

all that are not algae eater. only suitable if you have sand in your tank, else they will die

check ur lights bro. might be too much for them esp bba.

on the hair algae, its due to ur nutrients too much and lights as well. need to manually remove it and reduce nutrient + lights.

Otos wont touch it. U sometimes see them try to nibble on it, but once they realize it's hair algae, they'll get away from it.

Photoperiod needs to be reduced.

Nutrient wise, some say u should maintain so that ur other plants will grow well n ur tank will be cycled faster n the algae will go away. Some say need to reduce so that the algae will not have access to nutrition as well. I tried both way, didnt really help. Maybe cos my utricularia grows so slow.

U can try dosing excel. I found out that once u double the dose, the algae will start turning brown n become fragile and u can easily suck them out or brush them off. But if there is livestock, need to monitor them scared overdose.

green hair algae can be control by yamato. not otto. if u can get malayan shrimp, it would be great
black hair algae---> bba or staghorn? need to define it tho. bba u can do spot treatment by excel. staghorn quite difficult to deal with.

CAE really nasty fish and very territory altho i find them funny.... i owned 3 before now left with 1 (age around 2+ years in different tank. Cant put inside my planted tank sure disaster). Eventually when it grow it will love those slime that covered ur fish. I have 1 huge CAE swimming lonely in 3 feet aquarium. Guess u know what happened in that tank brows.gif

As for me , CAE kinda awesome fish i ever had. Such mystery fish.

*duh forgot to mentioned, cae only targetting slow moving fish or maybe ur fish already sick IMO (poisoning/water condition/fish disease) cae very hardy and can endure water conditions that would be toxic to many other aquarium fish. I never see him hitting on my other fish last time (molly). Even dead fish on bottom my cae wont touch compared to those cae in LFS.

but mine are barely 3cm in length only, and i guess that explains why those dead fishes are without their belly
