QUOTE(mkcmeng @ Mar 24 2016, 04:33 PM) Check this article:http://theidiotspost.blogspot.my/2009/04/s...eed-of.html?m=1 It's the cheapest. Before that, I was charged rm30-40, and due to my co2 tank socket isn't the standard one, I usually need to wait for a week. It was quite funny, I didn't know this shop is just outside of my condo, my 2litre cylinder rm12, took around 5mins. Mind blown. So good it's just walking distance. |

QUOTE(artsyfarty @ Mar 24 2016, 04:40 PM) Check this article: superb! thanks! tank running low on co2 now, open tap also not much pressure. I believe it lost quite a bit during setup last time when i accidentally opened the tap too much and it started to hiss co2 out from the tap suddenly one day.http://theidiotspost.blogspot.my/2009/04/s...eed-of.html?m=1 It's the cheapest. If he is free, sometimes he helps me to check whether my tank got leakage.http://theidiotspost.blogspot.my/2009/04/s...eed-of.html?m=1 It's the cheapest. If u guys go there, better drive to the backlane, straight to the place to refill. |

QUOTE(Savor_Savvy @ Mar 27 2016, 07:10 PM) I am waiting for my java moss on driftwood via postage. Can I directly put them into the tank after I received it? Hmm I'm the paranoid type, quarantine everything. better safe than sorry.for plants unless I'm very sure of the source is shrimp safe and clean then directly into tank otherwise its almost always a bag of active carbon and the said plant with minimum water ( soak everything in) after a day or two .. place one test shrimp and observe overnight or two, if still kicking and alive . then goes into main tank fluval activated carbon are cheap and good . less than rm10 for 3 big bags or 1 bag for even less ... cheers |

QUOTE(EternalC @ Mar 28 2016, 09:02 AM) for drift wood, i suggest u brush it and soak it in water overnight before putting in your tank I mean it doesn't make sense. If the java moss is on the driftwood, then how can you can brush it?as for java moss, if you're confident that it is snail-free and no parasites, then feel free to put it in Unless you're confident about the source, snail eggs and parasites cannot be seen by the naked eye. But you can sanitize the entire wood + moss. As I usually do with new plants. 1. Mix one part bleach into 19 parts water (19 parts water to 1 part bleach). The normal Chlorox will do. 2. Fill one bucket of normal tap water and put double the dosage of Anti-Chlorine. 3. Soak the entire wood + moss into the bleach mix and let it rest for one minute. For moss, I reckon 90 seconds shouldn't be a problem. For tougher plants, you can soak until 3 minutes. 4. Remove it and soak it into the bucket with double dosed anti-chlorine. This will neutralize the bleach. 5. Finally rinse the plant with lots of dechlorinated water. There are variations to the above, but you can google how to disinfect plants - but that is the extract of it and how I do it. |

If the java moss is on the driftwood, then how can you can brush it? err.. that one is i assume that he get it from a reliable source, aka already been pre-cleaned before sold. and also not being tied with moss Unless you're confident about the source, snail eggs and parasites cannot be seen by the naked eye. But you can sanitize the entire wood + moss. As I usually do with new plants. 1. Mix one part bleach into 19 parts water (19 parts water to 1 part bleach). The normal Chlorox will do. 2. AFAIK, moss n bleach don't mix Unless you're confident about the source, snail eggs and parasites cannot be seen by the naked eye. But you can sanitize the entire wood + moss.
