QUOTE(applebee @ Jan 21 2016, 11:06 PM) what shrimp is this? I think it came with the Riccia i found in a small stream. It was smaller than the Cherry when I first saw it in my tank 3 months ago. Now it is about 2-3 inches. mind to share which stream did u find it from ?Worst thing is my moss getting lesser and lesser. Shall I throw it away? |

QUOTE(Savor_Savvy @ Mar 27 2016, 07:10 PM) I am waiting for my java moss on driftwood via postage. Can I directly put them into the tank after I received it? Hmm I'm the paranoid type, quarantine everything. better safe than sorry.for plants unless I'm very sure of the source is shrimp safe and clean then directly into tank otherwise its almost always a bag of active carbon and the said plant with minimum water ( soak everything in) after a day or two .. place one test shrimp and observe overnight or two, if still kicking and alive . then goes into main tank fluval activated carbon are cheap and good . less than rm10 for 3 big bags or 1 bag for even less ... cheers |

QUOTE(artsyfarty @ Apr 2 2016, 01:34 PM) My MC root is melting like there's no tomorrow. Thinking of removing all of it and plant mini dwarf hair grass instead. Do you trim your hairgrass or it always stay the same height? Ooo I thought it was a new leaf MC Melting ? May be its due to insufficient light / CO2, mc quite high demand actually. |

Dust algae issue ?
I was trying all kinds of methods to deal with it. So far I just employ* a few hardworking Oto and so far all good ^^ Do keep in mind just one or two Oto will be good enough depending on size of your tank as they need quite a bit to eat (GDA or diatoms) to survive. It will take some time for them to clear the green stuff. Pls be patient. It will be tempting to add a number of them to get the job done faster. But soon they will be starving to death ( or you'll need to supplement algae wafers ) For me algae wafers is out of the question as my shrimps will swam on it and left nothing for Oto to eat. Cheers ^^ |

Oh my...
get some activated carbon packs and place them into the tank asap. all new flora and fauna must be quarantined, for the sake of the others that we currently have in our tanks. on the side note could you share your LFS, so that the members here will be extra careful ( in quarantining ) when purchasing from that shop. thanks This post has been edited by icedlink: May 4 2016, 12:18 PM |

QUOTE(fookie @ May 30 2016, 05:06 PM) The only reason I was using a skimmer is to filter out the oil film produced by the plants. However, there was once my skimmer was kinda clogged and it stopped working. For a few days there were oil film on the surface and the injected CO2 was trapped under the oil film. Looks dirty and horrifying. Fluval 206p/s. Any bang for your buck canister filter to recommend? I'm using a 2 feet tank currently. or shiruba ^^ |
