i have 2 8month's old kittens at home laugh.gif

I was just scared this cat cannot survive on its own if he is abandoned. So thinking maybe I should take care for a while and then send to SPCA this weekend.

My kittens at home are quite territorial and budgeting wise I can take care of 2 cats at the moment.

Hello, I recently noticed about 2 days ago there's an orange tabby meowing in front of my office. Today when I came in late to the office due to jam, the shop has opened so I managed to buy him food. He was meowing again in front of my office at the pedestrians. He looked chubby but he was so hungry as well when he gobbled the food down.

I saw that his fur is relatively clean and he has his left ear tipped and also double checked his butt to see that he has been neutered.  He has spent time in front of my office in the morning, sleeping under a car parked there in the afternoon and nowhere to be found in the evening.

I would like to take him back because if he is being abandoned I'm afraid he wouldn't survive too long on his own. But I'm also afraid that he is just the community cat and enjoys the outdoor. I was wondering if he is being abandoned or lost or just a community cat? How can I tell? Should I take him home?

few possibilities here.

cat was neutered n tipped. adopted, and abandoned b4 u saw him.

cat been surviving on the street for some time, n kena neutered by feeder.

you can try to post online to get adopter, instead of sending to spca, cos spca is always full to the brim.. n his fate there is uncertain.

I have noticed that " Taste of the wild" is the cheapest " grain free " cat dry food here in malaysia.

Roughly ~ RM17.XX per KG. ( 7kg bag)

My issue with TOTW is that at the sides of the bag, there are many tiny perforations, to let the air out.

If air can go out, air can also go into the bag, it is just tiny holes.

That is why, you can see all TOTW bags are sealed in a clear plastic bag, I presume done by the local importer,

to prevent further air or moisture or pollutants from going into the bag.

These days majority of pet food packaging does not have these perforation anymore.
Some are even vacuum sealed.

Only those " cheaper " range of pet food, have/does this,

Brit premium food have holes, Brit care does not. ( more $$$)

worst is local brand Power Cat, ( Glory Cat n other what? cat biggrin.gif ) they use woven sacks to pack the kibbles.. they think it is chicken feed ???

When i go into pet store, and see some new brand, i will go belek-belek n sniff around to check for holes... biggrin.gif

I wrote to TOTW about the holes, and these are their "limited" reply.

" Thank you for your inquiry.

The holes observed on the side gussets of the packaging are referred to as micro perforations. These micro perforations are an essential design element of this packaging in order to allow a filled and sealed bag of pet food to be conveyed and stacked into pallets in as stable a manner as possible. The micro perforations have been part of the pet food packaging design for over 10 years and are only large enough to allow adequate air release for production.

I appreciate the time you have taken to contact our company. "

The ear tipped because this cat have gone through TNR - trap-neuter-release - program. If this was rescued & neutered for adoption, they don't tipped the ear because it isn't necessary.

Maxwell is known not really good. Better get friskies or whiskas. If you want to avoid gelling, for fiskies choose ocean fish or mackerel or tuna because they filled with tuna & less gelling (at most thin layer on top).

Kinda redundant I think. The kibbles are packed in clear plastic bag inside of the bag. They already protected form moisture or polluted air. Btw, I think the outer clear plastic bag is mainly to protect it during transport, i.e. from factory to shop/supplier.

i bought just one can to see for myself. wht is inside.
cos it doesnt state any gel etc.

why do you think? or who said/state maxwell is not good?

in fact all these maxwell, friskies wiskas etc they are all made in thailand, probably from the same factory, or same series of generic factories that mass produce cheap budget supermarket cat food, tht get their raw ingredient frm the same supplier.

for tow packaging.

wht do you mean by 'redundant'?

i have seen tow 7kg pack tht doesnt not have the outer clear plastic packaging.

the outer clear plastic is bagged by the local distributor, not by the factory, as proven by their reply to my email.

reason for the holes is so that they can ship more bags, and it will save cost that way.

if they wana bag it again with clear plastic. might as well dont make any holes at all in the first place. Just like other brands of cat food.

so i dont understand your reply actually.
please clarify.

Cheap battery operated pet feeder for short term use.
Attached Image
this pet feeder if sold @ pet shop is around rm250 or more.
if you buy frm lazada ready stock (not ship from oversea/china) is about rm100+ only.

i bought this to feed the cat outside of my hse.
this feeder is meant for indoor use only.

but with some 'work' short term (2weeks) of outdoor use is possible. But it has to be protected from rain and sun.
Attached Image

wrap n taped to prevent water/moisture frm getting in.

placed it inside tong sampah to protect frm rain/sun.
Attached Image
main disadvantage of this feeder is, some kibble is always trapped inside the chute, and the space there will get soiled with exposed kibble over time.
Attached Image
take all apart to clean it properly for storage.

I doubt maxwell & friskies/whiskas are from same factory. You can check yourself the content between maxwell & friskies/whiskas are different. Well to know for sure you can check on the label from which factory it came from because they are required to include this information on the packaging/label. If not, you can report it to relevant authority.

It is long time ago, I didn't save the article talking about this. I only remember to avoid it. I have tried maxwell & my cats don't like it at all.

hi all, a stray kitten followed me back about half a year ago, adopted it since.

for the past whole month it's been meowing non stop, checked and neutered him last saturday but he's still making lots of noise. gave enough attention etc. vet said he's healthy. food and all ready.

i chain him when he's outside, cannot let him wander around freely since my neighbours may complain.

any advises on how to keep him quiet?

For male cats even after a couple of days after neutered (can up to few weeks) they can still have instinct to mount female cat that is in heat. They even can make female cat pregnant during this period. It takes few weeks for all of the sex hormones in circulation to be eradicated. One of my male cats like this but he is not vocal though. After a week if I remember correctly, eventually he have zero feeling to female cat. I think your cat will calm down eventually.

breakaway collar, u can get frm pet shop. plc hv more choices n better quality than those frm china

as for cat tag, i noticed not much choices if you want order locally, most r big for cat, can put but looks big.
u can search online. some pet shop hv sample, they can order for you.

ur cat free roaming? or you put collar even indoor, afraid it might got lost aft sneak out?

tag, i order frm taobao, round 2cm diameter. jz nice the size.

Yes it's a male, he's never been put in a cage, always chained up few meters long so he can wander around. My mom is at home to take care of him.
