Not an apple orange comparison. nVidia purposely cripple gtx960.
Yeah, but I am comparing bandwidth also. Its quite low.

Benchmark is cheating because nVidia have optimized the driver to do compression. In real life, compression is less efficient causing GTX 960 to be way slower compared to benchmark FPS.

GTX960 is doomed. It will not sell. Unless some gamer are too blind to see the terrible bandwidth it has.

It is the same like GTX 680 low memory bandwidth. But just like GTX 680, the true core of Maxwell is not with 960, 970 and 980 series. It will be the full fat maxwell with big memory bandwidth too like the 780 & 780 Ti.

Yeah but looking at the bandwidth is pretty sad. The compression help in certain condition. Just like in certain condition, GTX970 is ok with 3.5GB. But will be stutterfest when there is usage between 3.5gb and 4gb.

NVidia totally cripple memory of maxwell for stuff below GTX980. That explain the price.

In their defense, Nvidia did say that the 960 is meant for those still on the 460/560 and 560Ti. Yes, consumer's money then it's the consumers right to buy what they want. But Nvidia never did say the 960 was a 770 replacement.

960 represents nearly twice the performance upgrade from a 560Ti. So that's the target. It's just too bad the 960 is being priced so close to the 970 and that has lead people to compare the 960 to being a 770 replacement.
It's a classic Nvidia pricing F'up.

yup, looking at gen-code people should already know that 960 was never meant to replace the 770.

Before the GTX 960 came out I did predicted its performance based on memory bandwidth but it performed better than my prediction.

It's exactly like the R9 285 where lower bandwidth doesn't exactly take a hit.

btw 960 makes good pricing for system builders like dell,hp etc , where customers just wants out of the box pc that can play games on 1080p panel. Nowdays buying pc built by them is way easier and covers longer warranty. just my 2 cents

does anyone has problem with gpu using around 50% (and clockspeed reaching to usual gaming clock) during browsing with chrome? already disabled HW acceleration option in chrome but the clockspeed remains the same. gpu power and clock reduced to usual 2d clock right after closing chrome.

leadtek gtx 770 here.

this is a good lesson for not just nvidia, but also to all traders especially those 'monopolize traders' that we consumers will not tolerate to any fraudulence or scam. hopefully we will have better price competitive towards GPU products in future.. rclxms.gif

don't have issue. i saw guru3d got one fella said fifa will drop from 60 to 58 just 2 fps but i insisted. now the new driver got very minor stuttering just happened once awhile so really not a big deal after all. wait new driver it will improve for sure like v349.65 for win10.

the guy who own 2 sli gigabytes gaming 1 goin sued nvidia & gigabytes.
