My review.

AF is quite fast on a bright sunny subject. sharpness is ok and acceptable to my taste. i needed a fast shutter speed to eliminate blur and higher ISO to get correct exposure hence the pixel noise. for this kind of Focal length and no IS, tripod/monopod greatly helps. next buy will be a good tripod and a lens hood to get better contrast.

minor editing. all shots handheld. no cropping. at kampung now, so i had to resize the images before upload. internet is poor

Nice snipes. Most of them at a close focus range as well which minimises the dreaded ringbokeh, and good focus on the 2nd bird and lizard.

Seriously, at 500mm, anything lower than f8 is gonna have such a razor thin DOF that its gonna be ridiculous anyway - but it also means that for all intents the 500mm is pretty much a day only / tripod required lens.

I wonder what the aperture for this lens' sharpness sweet spot is?
Also, with a stable enough tripod, you might also be able to attempt some awesome moonshots.

this lens has a f8 constant aperture..meaning..we dont have to worry about the sweet spot because its already 'sweetened' by default. some might say f8 is too slow,but its not really. i know some of my friends who has 100-400mm, 150-500mm has to dial down their aperture to f8 (even f11) to reach the sweet spot..just imagine if they put a TC on top of that.

please tell me any of tele lens on the market which are not a 'day only' lens. unless you were talking about 500/400mm f4/2.8 nikon/sony/sigma/canon which priced at rm30k ++. thats a different league.

hahah 500mm mirror ... one and only in this world come with AF

for lens under rm10k.... there is always a 70200 F2.8 lens.... its short... for a slightly longer reach, there is a very very rare luck you may see or get to touch the sigma 120300 F2.8... super heavy(really heavyyyyy felt heavier then 300F2.8), a tack longer then 70200, really huge front element. but god, its beautiful lens. got a chance to play with it with a nikon D800. it perform really well. but best not to handheld, 5 min max and your arm shaking like mad.

i once saw a siggy 150-500(old model right after the 50-500) which is very sharp at wide open.

what is the best street price for FE 55mm F1.8 and FE 16-35mm F4 now?

finally have chances to try out a6000, very impress with this tiny mirrorless performance.

Finally got a decent adapter for my Zeiss 50 f2 ZM. Really good piece of glass for the a7!

Personally, I think it's overexposed and low in contrast
