Haha, if they keep on pumping jobs to you, wouldn't you feel happier? This could mean you are wanted! And when it comes to promotion, evaluation, theres always a reason to justify why you should be a 4-5 star rating.

Furthermore, the more jobs you do for different seniors/managers, it also helps alot as you would know more ppl around the office. More tasks/jobs taken up could also show your capabilities and willingness to help.

Haha, peak is fun, and tiring in a way. 7th job so far! Inclusive of listed companies, MNC, and small jobs here and there. Can feel the learning curve going way up. Can't wait for my 1 week+ leave in June =).

On the job allocation, what do you guys prefer, working with guys or girls colleagues / mixture of both? Sometimes a whole team full of guys ain't too bad too, can talk shit the whole way! biggrin.gif

Same here. And it's always easy to ask a male colleague to ask for some documents from a female client and vice versa. Opposite attracts, very true.

i m currently pursuing accounting degree. for years of gathering knowledge and suggestions about accounting field, people always say go for the big4 audit, as it provides learning and exposure. It's like a MUST to join big4 for at least 3years to have good job prospect. However, i heard my seniors said that those who leave big4 after 3years of experience only make 4k+ in commercial line. there is no doubt that the experience and qualification prepare you to the higher position like CFO. but this position is like one in a million, u dream to achieve it but not everyone can make it eventually. what i'm questioning is that pay for accounting does not grow as fast as other industries like consulting(which can reach 5figures in 5years experience),engineering or investment banking.is that true? jz got confused again regarding future career path, money matters a lot afterall. hope someone can enlighten me

I suspect that is because of 'value creation'. Employees that create value, such as that of consultants or investment bankers which help multiply a firm's income through creative skills are move in demand. Auditors follow prescribed standards and techniques to do their job, which is why the salary does move slower.

This is only true when you're in the 'technical' phase of your career. When you enter the 'management' phase, then it is how effective a leader you are, and at that time auditors with the proper experience and mentality can make lots of money, having the experience to make good financial decisions that can save thousands for a company.

Another point I would also like you to ask your seniors, is that if those who leave a Big4 firm after 3 years to enter commercial only make RM4k+ in commercial line, then how much does a senior who never joined a Big4 firm but started commercial makes after 3 years?

3 years is also quite fast for a Big4 firm. You would only reach the level of Senior Associate. Working for 5-6 years, and you should be Asst Manager or Manager, which would net you a whole lot more than RM4k.

All I Can Say is That You Won't Be Happy if You Think of Earning Big Chunk of Money from Assurance Field, It's More of Experience Goldmine...

That's true. Audit firms like Big4 even have formula for salary depending on years of experience. If i'm not wrong, 1st year manager in big4 only make 6k+ basic. What i'm concerned about is that is the career path for accounting even after big4 experience really tat bright?here i mean the money.Sorry for being materialistic, but making only 6k at the age of 29-30 after 5years of really hard work and no personal time gives me a feel that i can only have children and a more comfortable life at 35.

Like a whore.
Well got many agreed upon procedures apart from audit so no more peak, its flat at the top. But a good learning process and team bonding is better than ever.

<ADVICE PLEASE> let’s say I’m a fresh graduate and then I got a chance to get into 1 of the big4 doing tax. Of course I’ll appreciate the experience gained from the company. I, however, prefer to work-life balance. So I’ve come to a decision. I will leave there after 3 or 4 years then move into a smaller one but not necessarily to do with tax, maybe audit maybe erm.. don’t know.. who knows.. lol.. My question is whether doing tax all the way will limit my career path in future. Thanks a million in advance =)
