Ah... heard auditing is stressful but you can earn big bucks after a few years. The workload can kill for those who are not fast enough on their feet...

Slow adapter = easy kill.

Definitely due to slowdown. A lot of cost-cutting measures are in the works already with bosses. If you don't mind working out of Penang, you should try sending your CVs to the head offices in KL.

Sure you're ready to suffer in Audit?

It is for experience gain, must suffer also la.

ya if i already send in the resume to the big four but there is no response. should i send in again after a month? Will they keep my resume and call me when there is position available or they will throw it away? anyway, i am an ACCA graduate.

I just joined EY KL. The HR told us they are still actively hiring fresh grads but have freeze employment for experienced hires. I suggest you give them a call to check your application status rather than to resend in again.

This is a bad time to work in the Big 4. Recruitment may be reduced, which would mean the existing staff would be working on more engagements than usual to cut cost. More late nights trying to finish up work before the deadline.
*
u forgot to mention-- as times are bad.. more problems pop up.. profit is lower.. materiality is also lower=more work to be done.. what is immaterial last time is material now..

double dose.. no need to sleep liao..

Nobody makes big bucks in auditing. Maybe in lala-land, but not in Malaysia. A lot of work, a lot of experience, not a lot of money, a whole lot less sleep.

1am every night is not unusual during peak period.

Dude, 1 am is consider good. You sure you from EY? Do not comment on something you have not been through.

Some people even stay up to 6am then go home take shower and come back to work at 8.30am. Thats the people from EY. Well, solute from me rclxms.gif

As you guys know that EY has a lot of leng luis (remembered one even join Miss Malaysia or something like that named Xiang Yee), but most of them are pretty as/when they join EY, 3 years down the road ...... you will note the difference. Some senior / manager ladies not even married! Thats the cost you have to pay!

Never said i was from EY. biggrin.gif

TBH, sometimes the Firm demands a bit too much from the staff however work needs to get done and it all boils down to time management. I always tell my staff to PLEASE highlight to me when they start to feel that they are overworked and we will see how we can re-distribute the workload where possible.

Working "6am then go home take shower and come back to work at 8.30am" is just ridiculous and i would not expect that of my staff, even during peak. When it comes to that, the problem needs to be highlighted to the Partners that the department is SEVERELY understaffed and jobs will be delayed because of it.

YenniePC,
All Big 4 except PWC (telephone screening) conduct face-to-face interviews for shortlisted potential interns, so it is advisable that you apply all four to maximize your chances.

I've interned at one of the Big4 apart from PwC and face-to-face interview wasn't part of the process.
I really don't think your statement is valid.

I don't know what you mean by "reasonable pay" but pre-financial crisis pay for an intern in the Big 4's in KL was RM800 per month. I think it would be lesser in the Penang offices.
