Well, I would say the main difficulty of the test lies in the time constraint. It's not really that difficult, just that you need to be quick, else u won't be able to finish it. And erm, I was interview by the audit manager. So she basically just asked why did I choose audit, what is my 5 years plan, did i have any conflicts with my colleagues or classmates, etc. No technical questions. Phew!
I applied to the one in PJ.
*
ohh..lucky for you didn't get technical question..
coz before this i got friend being ask a lot question on technical part..hehe..

how long you wait for their call to inform you attend this interview?

I actually didn't prepare for any technical questions to be asked as I thought I will be interviewed by the HR people. When I found out there and then that I was going to be interviewed by the audit manager, I was soooo nervous. Luckily, she din asked any technical questions. biggrin.gif

I was called for an interview within a week.

Well, I am not working in EY. But I have interview with them next week. So they are not freezing their headcount yet, I guess.

Could someone help me on this?

I answered for my EY interview for that question,

'I believe it's very difficult to make long term plans, especially 5 years in the future since the world seems to keep changing. I think it is more important to make a good decision now, and keep making good decisions about my career and path. Where I end up in 5 years, if I keep making good decisions, shouldn't and won't be something I'm concerned about.

I was told by my friend in deloitte that we are required to wear tie when working.
Does this apply to other big 4 as well? sweat.gif

Hi,

I'm new to this forum as well as the accounting world. I was hoping if anyone could offer me some advise in regards to the following questions?

(1) Would the Big 4 consider recruiting a CIMA finalist (1 more final paper to go), without any university degree? or do they only favour ACCA?
I'm not really a fresh grad, but then I never had any accounting / finance related work experience. I've been working all my life mostly doing admin, in banking and a short stint in internal auditing.

(2) If yes to the above, would I be able to apply for a position in other department (eg advisory) or do I have to start as Audit Associate (because I don't think CIMA is really relevant to statutory auditing)?

(3) I don't really have brilliant marks or a track record for passing all my papers in one sitting especially the final papers as I'm self-studying and working full time. Any tiny chances that they will consider at all?

I'm looking forward to get my 3 years practical experience. Where else should I look besides Big 4 ?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, or at least this is what i understand from the bosses. Did you send out to the local branch offices or the head office?

Hi. Thanks for your reply. You are currently in big four? Any insider news?

I have send out the hard copy to all the big four in penang branch but still not yet get any reply. Is it due to economy downturn so they stop hiring? When will they hire again? I am so eager to get the job.

Definitely due to slowdown. A lot of cost-cutting measures are in the works already with bosses. If you don't mind working out of Penang, you should try sending your CVs to the head offices in KL.

Sure you're ready to suffer in Audit?

This is a bad time to work in the Big 4. Recruitment may be reduced, which would mean the existing staff would be working on more engagements than usual to cut cost. More late nights trying to finish up work before the deadline.
