all of them r standard.. depends on ur budget.. normally ppl don use stock spks wif amp.. if u wanna keep ur budget low, add on a monoblock/2channel amp to power de woofer but de bass will cover all de vocals+music.. and that depends on what stock head unit u haf there..
*
i do using stock speaker ( wira se ) + 4 channel amp(but just use 2 channel oni due to my budget) + pre-amp + an old skull sony cdx V-7800 vcd+mp3 (6 years old services ) player and support more from sony Hi-Fi speaker box(home stock) he he he...budget ICE . and i DIY it self to save more budget,so to RE-assemble the wiring system from battery to power amp ( put d amp behind rear passanger seat ) ,the wire cost just cost me about rm 88,and for me it quit enough for that stock speaker, for me....

i'm just changed d amp loc from under passanger seat into trunk bonnet because my child always kick that amp before, and now it safe to stay in the trunk...

u r going for SQ or SPL setup? if SPL, it doesn't matter cos it's all about power, if SQ it's gonna sound a lil murky(not clean) cos of extra distortion when in bridged mode.

Hello guys. Have read every post there is in all 8 pages so far. And found a lot of information. I was and still am a complete newbie at ICE. So please be patient with me and explain pls.. I would really appreciate it. ckmoy007 has been very helpful explaining in another thread. So here is my questions..

1) I currently have some lower end speakers hooked up at the rear of my car..
2) I will purchase a component set.. Maybe JBL Is this ok guys? Install tweeters on dash, mid bass on side panels at door.. If JBL ok pls recommend model/models and tell me why.. and what to look for when selecting.. also 5 and 1/2 or 6 1/2 inch? How to choose? Any can? Or I have to see size at my door panel??
3) My bro giving me one subwoofer... 12 inch.. I will just use his put in trunk
4) I need advise on AMP pls. Do not want something too expensive.. Maybe up to 500-600? JBL? Sony? Advice pls.
5) Now.. if i get a 4 channel amp.. do i connect to tweeter, connect to mid bass, connect to rear speakers, and to woofer.. ? Or is 1 channel to connect to HU? Or do i need 2 Amps? A bit confused at this part.
6) Right now using some cheap unknown brand cd player with remote i picked up at brothers. I have just only read about how important HU is. So Im thinking I will leave the replacement of HU for last? is this ok? Or is it necessary to change now..
7) Please do tell me if the JBL sets i listed for component is good.. and also.. advice me on amp and HU.. on what brand to get perhaps...

Finally.. how much should my budget be? Im quite tight at the moment.. and new to ICE so i do not want to over do it.. Just something to listen to my electronica and r&b smile.gif

Edit: Found out on JBL/Infinity website that linked me to some site to check what size speakers fit. Says 4" Back and front. So means im just restricted to these for front? How to know what will fit well.

JBL GTO-427 4" 2-Way Speaker
JBL CS-2104 4" 2-Way Speaker
Infinity Ref-4022i 4" 2-Way Speaker

Whts the best frm this?

2) JBL is ok, u can either go for GTO or GT5 series cos they suit ur budget. as for size, it depends on ur door panel, if u wan oversize, gotta do a spacer to house the midbass.
3) u need to check wat is the rms of the sub, not max power. how to check rms? ask ur bro, or check in internet for the model.
4) there r ppl in this forum who sells in set, might get cheaper from them. As for amp and speaker selection, i wrote a list down this post for u to choose from... we will discuss bout it later.
5) if u get a 4ch and under tight budget, 2 channel used for front through passive crossover and 2 ch bridged for rear sub. the rear speaker leave it to powered by HU. amp don't give output to HU, it's onli input from HU. output is all to speakers / sub. of course better if can get 2 amps but ur budget will have to jack up higher.
6) it's not necessary to change HU now, cos it's useless to change to rm300+ HU. Try to save up more and get a better one in the future.

hi thanks for the quick reply. i will definitely check out on the rms for the sub.. since only 4" allowed on my car.. (checked).. I think ill go for 4" component for front.. My car is Volvo 240 GL
Choices:
JBL GTO-427 4" 2-Way Speaker
JBL CS-2104 4" 2-Way Speaker
Infinity Ref-4022i 4" 2-Way Speaker

What u explained made a lot of sense so i think 4 channel amp is sufficient.. and if I have extra money at the end.. I will get one of the pioneer HU you have posted in the last link.

no prob, if u r going to use those coaxials and not components system, it might be a waste to buy amp. buy an amp onli if u planning to use a set of comps, if not just get a monoblock for ur sub. try to make a spacer for the doors to fit 6.5" comps. but the final decision is alwez up to u. smile.gif

component usually come with a pair of box-like passive crossovers. they come in various sizes, but if u use 4", u will lack of mid bass. ur system will sound like something is missing in between.
a 2-way component set shud look something like this, 1 pair of tweeters, 1 pair of midbass and 1 pair of passive x-overs.

So I guess to enrich the sound I will definitely need to cut and widen the door panel?

depends on the midbass magnet's size, if it can go through ur 4" door panel hole, then u just need a spacer to increase height. just bring the speakers to the installer and he will advice u wat to do.

i dunno, try looking around in ur area, go ask for quotation. go to those shops which sells mainly car audio products, they will know wat to do. where do u live btw? if KL, there is KF audio and Lau Stereo but they r a lil expensive. for ur speaker's installation, it does not need hi expertise.

KL bro. only thing im worried is.. about the bigger sized component speakers for the front door.. I dont know much about these.. if I get bigger size will they compromise the space there? or will it look the same.. with just bigger speakers.. but I will do as u said and go to accessory shops..

some say if cut.. it will look ugly.. coz when they cut they put wood or plastic there??

this is the last piece of the puzzle for me. will it look ugly if i cut and fix 6.5" or is it better for me to put something that will fit there 4" ...

no la, if workmanship gud, it won't look ugly, they will match it with ur door. it appears to be a bulge of 2 inches at the door. it won't interfere with ur driving. usually they use MDF wood. those more customised ones use carbon fibre panel. just go to the shop and ask how does it look like or any mods need to be done.

bridging is connecting 2 channel making it into 1 single channel for more power. look at the first page of this thread for more info about bridge.

Hi ICE Gods,

Need your advice on some ICE stuffs. I have finally decided to upgrade my stock Waja sound system. Have lots of things in mind but am working on a budget and have decided that I would take it step by step. So now, I would need the ICE Gods out there to help me out in my journey to ICE-land... notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif ...

1- I have decided on changing my head unit to an DVD 2-din player. Its an 2nd hand unit but but used only for abt 2mnths+. Is this a wise 1st move, changing the HU 1st? hmm.gif

2- After going through the net I have found that there is this amp 'KENKO KK-1000' & 'KOLE AUDIO QBE-4000' 4 Channel 4000watts amps up for sale at abt RM300+. Would this be an wise decision to buy? hmm.gif

3- Considering, I change the HU first to the DVD 2-Din Player, what should be my next move? Comp set? Amps?

4- I'm not planning to change the whole ICE set in my car at the moment, I wanna do it 1 by 1. Please advice on the right steps to take. Eg: Change the HU first then go on with an good comp set and etc... hmm.gif

5- What I have in mind at the moment for my Waja's ICE System is:
- 2 Din DVD Player
- Pre-Amp
- 4 Channel 4000watts Amp
- Component Set (Front)
- 2-Way or Comp Set or maintain current stock speakers (Back)
- Either 2 x 10" or 2 x 12" Subs + Monoblock

Is this set-up good enough for WAJA? rclxub.gif Any recommendations from others? I'm planning to change the HU to the 2-Din DVD Player mid this month and go on from then on to change 1 by 1 the others. Planning about RM300-RM500 for each items. Please help me out. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
