both are good bike for me..before i bought my verge p9,i also want to buy the vigor p9.sadly that time no stock for vigor (dahon malaysia distributor change from lerun to guan chow).this is my point of view in differentiate both bike

vigor (2015 model)
- schwalbe marathon supreme tyre
- sram gearset component
- syntax stem
- 53t crank (dahon)
- dahon oem wheelset and vbrek
- dahon grip and brake liver
- no fd hanger for upgrade
- fold clip
- dahon oem saddle
RRP - MYR2.4k if im not mistaken

verge (2015 model)
- schwalbe kojak tyre
- shimano sora gearset component with alvio shifter
- no stem
- 55t fsa sharp tooth crank
- kinetic wheelset and vbrek
- biologic grip with t tools and avid fr5 brake liver
- fd hanger built in for upgrade
- fold magnets
- biologic saddle
RRP - MYR3.5k if im not mistaken

so,u pay extra rm1k for premium parts.for me both bike look the same.inherits with same terminology vector>verge>vigor
i bought my verge 2nd condition rode twice with the vigor price.lucky me that time lah sweat.gif

Go for the Dahon Vigor P9. With the extra 1K, less than that in fact , you can upgrade to full SRAM X5 specs. 20 speed! at the same price as the Verge P9. The extra bucks, you can change to Shimano Deore V-brakes and levers.
Your call. icon_rolleyes.gif

Kimbell Jaya have stock of it. I think it's about RM280 for the whole set, V-brake calipers and levers. Shimano XT also Kimbell have in stock. More expensive off course.

after few time rides (that include climbing round island and flat road) with my 16"
i think my setup for 52/42 crank are bit difficult. climbing are easy with 42t but on flat road i feel a bit weird when cycle up to 35km/j (like cartoon woo) with the 52t crank. so i decided to get my old fsa 55t sharptooth from stock verge p9 and add on the 42 chainring

since the crank already chrome color,i decided to add on tiagra 10speed rd to it and make it shine!

well,my 16" still running with 8speed casette.no need for 10speed lah icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi,

I plan to buy a folding bicycle for my wife as a gift. She has never rode a bicycle before. City girl lives in an apartment mah...Reason for buying is, my little daughter is learning to ride a bicycle. Don't want her to miss the fun riding bicycle together with her little princess.

I'm looking at the Dahon Boardwalk D8 & Dahon Speed D8. Appreciate if sifus can recommended which one is best for ladies.

Me myself is looking at Dahon Speed D8 or Vigor P9. But prefer steel frame.

Thanks in advance.

i bought 1 folding bike from Taobao before. Cheap but not very good.

I have a UGO before. UGO better than those from China and at RM750 is very good.

Look like UGO is the best choice at that range. hmm.gif

after considering the cost of shipping, it might be costly to ship from taobao.

DA2007D trinx RM699+- also around that area.

I agree that 8 speed is fine for a foldie. Wow, that project didn't take long, well done!

There's only 110 BCD and 130 BCD for road bike cranks. No confusion there.  Usually it is the 130 BCD as the 110 BCD is for the compact cranks, usually housing 50/34T chainrings. BCD means Bolt Center Diameter. That means if you connect all the 5 bolts in a circle, the diameter is 130mm.

Problem solved. Found spares at My Bike Shop, BU. It is a stock Verge P18 55/46T crankset. I will be keeping my old one as spare in case this one wears out, so difficult to find 130 BCD crank arm online, even harder to find 55T...

All roadbike cranks are 130mm BCD (except compact cranks which is 110mm BCD). Just walk into any decent bike shops, I am sure they have stock. So many Shimano Sora, Tiagra, 105 , Ultegra and Dura Ace. Most are 130mm BCD. As for chainrings, i still have a few remnants from my fodie days, 55T, 53T , 44T, 39T and even one 30T. If anyone is interested? icon_rolleyes.gif 55T is a bit susah to kayuh lorr and also 46T tak cukup low gear on hilly ride, unless you want to pedal downhill also. I would rather use 52/39T combo so the lower spectrum is increase over the higher gear side. Even my Dahon Dash (on a Schwalbe Durano 1.1 ) uses 53/39T combo and even that I only use the 53T front and 13T rear combination on a flat road.
