running with prowheel old crank 52/42T combine with vp square taper bb and sunrace 12-25 8 speed casette.tuning with microshift shifter with black & white jagwire, claris fd & rd,token jockey pulley and with novatech mtb hub.all parts are my spare @ used item keep from previous upgrades.so i dont spend any money to mode this 16" trinx.

a bit difficult to force the fork to open more space to fit the hub,but its not imposibble!seat post already change to 33.9mm and throw away the 31.9mm spacer.will put back rear rack and also mudguard to maintain it low profile..

still scouting for 16" kojak rubber.any info where i can get it??

I need some advice. My right-side crank arm pedal threads got stripped. By the time I found out the pedal is lose, the threads are all gone on the crankset, the pedal can just be taken out without turning. It is a second hand Verge P20 with stock FSA Vero 55/42T crankset. Previous owner replaced pedal with MKS MT-E Ezy which I wasn't aware the left side wasn't tight. sad.gif

Any idea where can I get it repaired as in welded with new thread?

I Googled suggestion that can insert helicoil kit? Where can I buy that?

Can I change the chain arm instead of the whole set?

Should I just get a new 53/39T crankset? 55/42T seems rare and expensive!

go to any machine foundry, and they will put some metal type of insulator and make a new thread for you.cost around 10-20 bucks only.crank arm only are hard to find without chainring

unlessss....
u need an upgrade to hollowtech crank, than u can get new crank.for me 20" wheel using 53/39 already enough.but the smoothness of hollowtech crank you cannot get compare to squre taper type of crank (unless u are using dura squaretaper bb)

p/s: do pm me if u wanted to letgo that crank.want to put on my 16" trinx!

Just take out the crank and then head to Central Nuts and Bolts in Jalan San Peng or there are two more Nut and Bolts store in Jalan Balakong. They can measure it and suggest the appropriate size. They have this kind of insert which is larger than the existing tread size. You need to drill the crank to the size and then tap treads to the size of the insert. Then you screw it in the new treads and you just screw your pedals into the new insert. Yes, it is call the helicoil. Buying the tappers and such might be a bit expensive,

Easier still is just sending it to a foundry but , you know lah, foundry fellas don'f really look at this kucik-kucik jobs. Better if you know a foundry worker. It's actually very simple. Alternatively,

You can just buy old cranks from BBS. You don't need the chainrings actually , just the cranks. So, an old one with different size doesn't matter as you already have both the chainrings and locking bolts. Make sure you get BCD 130 cranks, that's your size and it has 5 locking bolts and not 4 as opposed to mountain bikes which has 4. Lagi senang just go get a Shimano hollowtech crank, only RM250 from Kimbell Jaya with BB. tongue.gif

Thanks very much. I'm glad to hear that I can use back the old crank. Do you know any machine foundry around the klang valley that I can try? I'm still new to cycling, so don't plan to upgrade first, but noted if I wanna sell it. smile.gif

Thank you for the detailed crank specs. I didn't know anything about BCD. I was wondering if any 5-locking bolts will fit too. I think I'll try getting the new crank, while looking for foundry to fix the old one. Then if I can't find any foundry to do, I'll fall back to Central Nuts and Bolts.

Thanks again guys.

if u know any mechanic/pomen, ask them if they know any machine shop, most car workshops deals a lot with machine shops.

the pedal most likely was not installed correctly.
normally a pedal with tighten when u pedal.

There's only 110 BCD and 130 BCD for road bike cranks. No confusion there. Usually it is the 130 BCD as the 110 BCD is for the compact cranks, usually housing 50/34T chainrings. BCD means Bolt Center Diameter. That means if you connect all the 5 bolts in a circle, the diameter is 130mm.

this event is on closed KL roads.

u want to ghost, just avoid the starting/flag off point.

cos there is where the hired ' guards ' will prevent ghost from going into the starting pen.

so no big deal just start some where else.

remember, they organise an event, but they dont own the roads in kl,

motorised vehicles are not allowed into the route, but not bicycles..
this is the job of the police/dbkl, and they won't give a damn u got register or not,
as long as u riding a bicycle.

community ride is 2 laps,

riders flag off, then might pass the starting point again.

if they are strict they might stop those who doesn't have numbers ie not registered.
(at the starting point i mean)
but just might only.. i'm not sure.

to avoid the hassle, u just avoid passing the starting point again....

along the route, volunteers which is mainly college students, no pay punya
are stationed at junctions to guide cyclist.

and when it is time to finish, just stop somewhere and don't go to the finish line.

simple as that, needs a bit of planning, but no big deal..

the crowd is expected to be huge as usual, and they oredi reached their target..

remember, if anything happen to you, since you are not reg, the organiser dont have your details,
so they can't contact anyone etc etc.

best is you cycle along wit other friends who reg..

just meet them after the starting point,
some where along the road leading to tugu, where they do the u-turn.

all depends on the route this year, which i think is gona be the same as last time,
no other alternatives, unless they do in putrajaya which the organiser will never do.
