Hello,

Newbie here.

In fact I came to this forum after receiving the Ensogo Hummer offer on email - sounded too good to be true so thought I would do some research first.  smile.gif

First of all, great forum, kudos on reaching V4!  rclxms.gif  (I started at V1 and worked my way up).

The Ensogo deal sounds very good, but as mentioned above I may need to be prepared for some heavy fire headache, maybe even migraine. Never bought from them before, some not so good feedback on them on various websites.

So, since I am in the company of true experts, thought I would pose the following questions before I try to figure out how to proceed:
1. Is the foldable Hummer that is advertised in Ensogo indeed a good bike? Does it have a model number?
2. How much does it normally retail for? All these online websites always claim 60% off, 70% off etc etc. Is the retail price really ~RM1,399?
3. Are there also fakes of this foldable Hummer in the market these days? Is that why it is so cheap on Ensogo?

*
Initially I too was delighted to see the hummer 20" bike with disc brakes was that cheap.
But then I realised the photos that they showed were for hummer 26".
Comparison can be seen here:
http://bicyclebuysell.com/item/236374/hummer-20-folding-bike

Ohhh I have doubt now but at the same time too itchy want to buy. What if the bike that I receive (if I buy) is really 26" (too big for me to bring around), or 20" without disc brakes? (20" hummer has many variations) cry.gif

FYI, yes, I know hummer is montague's immitation.

I was going to buy it until they had it taken down from ensogo due to limited stock i think.
I'm was hoping for 26" which is different from the description" ,which also got me hanging there cry.gif
But,yea. I will just buy from retail store which is much safer 😁

Does anyone know is there any bicycle store located around cheras who offering good price? 😥

I don't think this is intended for off road riding although it does describe itself as mountain bike. The main drawback of this bike is the pivot where the folds turns. It's very weak in construction and the main complaints is the pivot and the pivot clamp (the thing you use to tighten the bike when unfolded). This is even when they do not do off road so imagine if you were to use it often offroad. Secondly it is the weight of this bike. It is really heavy. You going to get hernia riding uphill on offroad.

I see, is anyone tried it before for offroad? Noted its quite heavy, but at least can it do medium trail?

The components are not in any way high grade, but usable. It's doable for light trails but definitely not as pleasant an experience as a non-folding MTB.

And yes, like etigge said, the quick release in the middle is one of the weakest point. I broke mine after 2 months of riding it but I managed to get an original QR from Montague and it's been good eversince.

Frame itself is ok, feels alright, but just heavy due to low grade alloy.

Noted, is there any recommended shop?

Guys, I am leisure cyclist with an old mountain bike. Lately, I start to join a group of cyclist in Putrajaya. They all use foldies. When climbing uphill, they use less effort in pedaling the bike. To my surprise, when i used their foldies and pedal uphill, its indeed easier.

Now, tangan a bit itchy. Feel like getting myself a foldies too. I want to learn more about foldies before deciding which model to buy. Some questions here.

1. Width of the tire. I saw some thick and thin (as thin as only 3 cm). What is the difference?

2. If I want to buy or window shop for foldies, which shop in klang valley should i start with? I work in Cyberjaya, already went dengkil shop but they don't have much foldable.

Thanks

I think for foldies, the widest tire is the Schwalbe Big Apple which is 2.0 and the narrowest is Kenda Kontender which is 1.0. Definitely smaller wheels are easier to ride uphill. I just got a mountain bike and it really takes more effort to ride even with much lower gears! rclxub.gif If you really want something good, you won't go wrong with Dahon, any model for that matter. Tern is good too but it's more expensive for the same specs and performance. Nowadays Java Cafe is selling well because of the higher specs for the lower price. You can get 16 speeder for less than 900 bucks!

For a good selection , I suggest Kimbell Jaya near Bandar Tun Hussein Onn. I can see Dahon, Terns, Java, Garion, Oscar, Wheeler, MIT , TXed and a few more I can't recalled. It's all displayed there. Rodalink is Tern only now, they don't sell Dahons or other brands, foldies , I mean. icon_rolleyes.gif
