Hi all,

I just bought myself a tern folding bike recently, but it doesn't come with kick stand.
I am now looking for one which is stable and lightweight.
Based on your experience, which kick stand should I install and where
can I get it ? (Preferred available locally)

Thanks in advance.

I had come across some articles on how to spot a fake hummer bike:

http://www.montaguebikes.com/folding-bikes...-a-counterfeit/

Some statements I copied from the above link:

IMPORTANT: Any new bike using the Hummer brand name is a copy. Montague did work with General Motors to produce Hummer branded bikes between 2002 and 2007. Since that time Montague has produced NO Hummer branded bicycles.

HUMMER = FAKE
RANGER = FAKE
MONTBIKE = FAKE

As shown in our Malaysia distributor, these bike cost around RM4k.
Original maker of Hummer bike was by Montague.

Good luck.

This gentleman quoted without wind on flat terrain 50km/h is possible with his Tern Verge X20.

hi everyone, for folding bikes, most ppl get 20" or 26" ?

which one you all prefer ?
*
I own a 20" foldie (20 speeds) and my personal finding on this small wheel bike:

Pro
- easier to carry around and put in your car boot.
- faster acceleration compare to bigger wheel size, due to lower rolling resistance.

Cons
- Steering a bit twitchy/sensitive during high speed (>40+km/h)
- Lower top speed (compare with same gearing, bigger wheel bike)

That's are based on my own experience.

Hahahaa. Sensitive on 40km/h. Careful loh at this speed. A small twig will send you rolling. I can attain this only when coming down Genting Peras. Usually cruising , I can do 28km/h max. Measure your shoulder width and cut the handle bar at the same width. Try to eliminate too wide handle bars and this will cut off the twitchiness to a smaller extent. Anyway, twitchiness is a matter of getting used to it. After a year or two riding, it never occurs in my mind at all. But after 2 years riding the foldie, after I shifted back to mountain biking, the mtb seems super stable. icon_rolleyes.gif

Heheee agreed, putting fatter tire help too. But that will reduce aerodynamic, heavier and to me, this is not worthy.

May I know which shop sells kinetix pro wheels?
*
You can get them online here:
http://premiumbikegear.com/brands/tern/upgrades/

They (Kinetix Pro X) should come standard with the Yr.2015 Verge X10 and X20 model.

Have done self inspection on my Verge frame yesterday night.
FYI,the frame is made in Vietnam and I am curious if the weld (in red
circle) is the original design or some work around to reduce the upper
frame crack issue.

Any idea ?

Ya, last time before buying this bike i was compared it with Brompton titanium, but end up this bike.
Not sure how Brompton ride is but this tern is a easy rider.

looks like a very good ride around putrajaya~ can share how you ride around that area?

Hi,
The track is about 10.5km. Normally I will
park my car at the free car park near to Millennium Monument.
The route as shown in the map is pretty flat,
You also able to find a small hill along the track,
which is not bad for a short uphill training.
Most of the road surface is pretty good except some
sections might be too bumpy for racing tires.

The carbon fork look fabulous on your verge, can share where you get it from?
Will it lessen the vibration compare with the ori alloy fork ?
Cheers.

i bought from ternout@sg admin in singapore named roger tan. the price is around sgd300 including shipping to malaysia. but that time our currency is around 2.7 exchange rate.nowdays 3.++ abit higher from me and u can buy new folding bike with that price!

this carbon fork are intended for minivelo and its a full carbon fork (carbon stearer tube) unlike some carbon fork with aluminium stearer tube. i had to cut down the sterer tube according to thw original fork to fit on my tern and get few other things also.

the fork absorb many vibration compare to my previous aluminium fork when riding especially im using durano tyre.so far i really enjoy the fork.you can get a bit more comfort with carbon handlebar also, but not as much as the carbon fork.also i dont like carbon handlebar since i saw few cases the carbon handlebar broke easily.

overall im quite satisfy with the carbon fork.the feel just like riding folding bike with wider tyre.since im on 451 wheelset its easy to change to caliper brake and maintain stability in stopping power much more compare to vbrake.the tbar 3d handlepost also help the stiffness of my bike comparing to the stock p9 handlebar+litepro stem.just my 2cents laugh.gif

Noticed the front brake caliper has move to the front, has the magnet also able to fit in ?

can,
i used some light bracket from seatpost to clamp on magnet to the fork.the folding method a bit different than the N-fold. unlike before, i had to fold like the verge x18. abit slower but still it folds within 10 seconds
