i've been on maxis broadband 384kbps package for almost 2 weeks now. well, the signal is strong if i put it near walls,windows that facing outside of my 6th floor apartment. i seldom surf at day but at night, full speed 384kbps is easy to achieve by torrenting. im testing the data limit n now just passing 4.1GB n i see nothing happen yet.

eone, im leaving nearby subang airport.just make sure u got the 3G signal clearly. that's all. For those who is sure their high rise apartment can get the signal but afraid maxis wil a fuss of it, just register your address to someone else address. i register it to my parent house in gombak:P

if you can only get a signal at the windows, y not just install a wireless router and attach to the hsdpa modem? it should be very easy to do so.

who say cannot ping? i usually keep one pc pinging 202.188.1.5 (tmnet dns) to keep the modem alive. otherwise it will auto-disconnect after no activity.

Now I found out the way Maxis control BT

Uploading Kbs for Maxis is so small, its only clock 0kbs most of the time.

Although my download can fly to 150 - 200kbps but it will start droping and restart from 0 because not enough upload to tell the seeder to sent the next batch.

So up down up down slow down the download.

But still better than screamyx

Does this Maxis Broadband available in kuching? i'm sick of tmnut n i wanna change my current ISP

even 1.6mbps also useless because of 3gb/month limit

That's why they can afford to offer high speed because of the limit. You will achieve the limit real fast.

Nothing being done after reaching limit...maybe its only the 1st month.
Will observe for another month b4 giving any conclusion

me too. So far I had been using for 1.5 months and reached limit 10.5 GB (upload+download) but so far so good. I think they haven't inpose the 3GB limit yet. Who knows when they will impose it....anyway

wanna ask, if my area has no 3g, i'll be on GPRS or EDGE right?

maxis can use several netowrks, and will auto downgrade when no high speed is available.

hsdpa (3.5)->broadband3G->public 3G->edge->gprs

according to them, if u r in the broadband 3g area, then the traffic is exclusive to bb user oni. if u r not in the area, then u will be using the public 3g, share with maxis phone users.

if u want to know ur area got 3g, just check ur phone. if got line, then at least u will get the public 3g coverage at 384kbps.

Added on February 4, 2007, 5:04 pmjust now tried driving along north south highway. now i know why people adore celcom or digi for frequent travelling use.

I am getting very patchy signal that varies from gsmonly, gprs, edge, and some time no signal at all!

when in between rest stops, usually its gsm or gprs only.
edge is available near rest stops, and near towns

3g only exist in penang or kl! signal is very bad for 3g at northen part of selangor. only manage to get 3g around sg buluh bridge.

Celcom 3G has better coverage as they started with 3G earlier.
