QUOTE(llhm87 @ Sep 26 2007, 02:03 AM) You switch to the new USB modem. Do you find it better than the ZTE modem? What is the procedure you need to switch it? I'm currently using the ZTE modem. I mean the new ZTE modem and Power Package. How long since you started, more than 30days? Well i got luck, I've changed it this morning at KLCC after 15days of used. No charges but needed to pay RM100 for the USB package... it is more stable in terms of signal and of course, the new modem powered by USB means more mobile. But i'm still dealing with it as it is still new, I'm convince that there are things to be done in order to enjoy the >2Mbps constantly.... i hope..... ======================================================

If yes, please share the results? How significant is the improvements like? =================================================

QUOTE(JWCheah @ Sep 26 2007, 02:57 AM) For Maxis USB, what would be the best SIGNAL type? I've tried to log on at KLCC ground (open-air), the connection kept switching between HSDPA and UMTS...would running programs like Net Speed Booster helps or making things worse? ============================================== There is no HSDPA connection in KLCC. What you're actually getting is the signal from the nearest UTMS base stations. The HSDPA connection that you got was from an internal server from Maxis Tower. (its a station built within maxis tower so that maxis tower could get a HSDPA signal). I hope that clarifies the question. You should not be expecting a HSDPA signal yet, because there isn't one in KLCC, and the signal burst is not strong enough to penetrate KLCC. (or even the nearest areas)

(or even the nearest areas) The problem is the signal shows HSDPA full bar (5) but the speedtest results remain poor. The problem is that I've yet to witness HYPER speed to confirm if it is Hardware/Software or Maxis problem. Is there a list of specific location that you can get full strength HSDPA signal? ====================================================================================

Is there a list of specific location that you can get full strength HSDPA signal? ==================================================================================== The reason you're not getting a full speed is that you're within two or more coverage zones. KLCC runs under a UTMS, and areas surrounding a huge part of KLCC are only equipped with UTMS stations. Maxis has a internal server that caters for the uses in Maxis Tower, and to a certain extent the signal crosses over to KLCC (but not full penetration) Hence that is why even though it says its HSDPA, but you're actually only running on UTMS. The only way to get a full strength HSDPA speed (in KLCC area) is to be within the Maxis Tower itself.

I think Maxis finish with their upgrade system. Now the speed is back to normal. Hope I can get the same speed or higher. My latest speedtest at 5.51pm Test 2 at 5.55pm This post has been edited by llhm87: Sep 26 2007, 05:55 PM

 - with the parabola DIY antenna I'm using a Mac. All I need is ssh (You can use putty for windows) and a SSH Shell Provider. You need to look out for one. With the help of SSH Tunneling + Deluge you can finally torrent during the daytime. I'll post some screenshots later

If your brother is using Maxis Data Plan (postpaid supplementary data services) then yes, that is to be expected. This is because there are some limitations in the broadband plan vs the data plan, and I think I made it quite clear that both are running on two similar parallel infrastructures. What I mean to say is that, the source is the same, but the methods and limits differ from each another, hence such difference is normal, and it will continue to be so for many various reasons.

Do have fun, and and do tell us what you feel of Izzi. Though I must warn that they don't perform as expected, and the latency is quite high for Izzi.

I don't know how bad your experience was with Maxis, but read some of my comments over at the Izzi thread. Jump into the deep end with your eyes wide open. To sum it up, my experience with Izzi has been like courting a pretty girl - it starts of lovey dovey with good speeds, then gets worse after a month - at first I was enjoying 120KB/s downloads from HTTP/FTP, around 80-90KB/s from P2P. It then got worse, direct downloads to 70KB/s, P2P to 30-40KB/s, now it's around 40-70KB/s for direct downloads and 20KB/s for P2P. From enjoyment it has now become suffering. Another month of "abusing" their services before I get my refund for the remaining 9 months when I cancel. Maybe I'll try the opposite - jump ship from Izzi to Maxis

Do you guys find any difficulty connecting to MSN? It takes me a long time to connect and sometimes it will connect and disconnect then connect back again. I wonder is this my problem or Maxis problem. Any idea?

Do it yourself for your maxis for those of you that are having connectivity issues (i.e low signal). This may help to boost the signal http://www.metacafe.com/watch/720362/how_t...olic_reflector/ - Video http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template2/index.html

Prasys, Really need to ask you how OpenSSH helps.... I've tried it using the guide in Openssh.org but because I dun really understand the system function, i failed to complete all the steps in it. I'm using "Open SSH for Windows", CYGWIN and WINVCN... am i on the right track? Help needed. =================================================================================
