Instarem used to be cheaper. But I heard they bumper the fee up by 0.5%. That's why it's more expensive now.All about ETFs / Foreign Brokers, Exchange traded funds

QUOTE(nguminhuang @ Jun 23 2020, 02:10 PM) You need to think how are you going to withdraw the money QUOTE(wendygoh @ Jun 23 2020, 02:15 PM) Depends. Sometimes only one of them (Instarem/Bigpay/Transferwise/Moneymatch) is cheaper at that particular moment.QUOTE(pigscanfly @ Jun 28 2020, 06:24 PM) Hi. Can anyone recommend a good performing Global Technology ETF? Are there any ETFs that tracks the MSCI World Information Technology Index? Apparently the MSCI World Information Technology Index can outperform S&P 500. QQQI discovered that Franklin Technology Fund (unit trust) uses the MSCI World Information Technology Index as it's benchmark. But I prefer investing in ETF, since the Franklin Technology fund doesn't really outperform it's benchmark. iShares S&P 500 Information Technology Sector (Ireland domiciled) https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/cash-king...L92MiBXTBRY7Tpr QUOTE(Yggdrasil @ Jun 28 2020, 06:37 PM) Instarem used to be cheaper. QUOTE(pigscanfly @ Jun 29 2020, 12:29 AM) Very interesting Ramjade. I need to do more research on QQQ (NASDAQ) and iShares S&P 500 Information Technology Sector. If you want pure tech in US, you can consider VGT (Vanguard Information Technology ETF).I was hoping SGX offers technology sector ETFs. Unfortunately, there are none in SGX. I rather buy ETF/stocks in Singapore, as I have a local broker there. Note that it's highly volatile despite having 500+ constituents. Then, again, high risk, high return. This ETF is usually enough for diversification because they have operations internationally. E.g. Microsoft, Apple, Adobe all sell their products overseas. |

How to make money on ETF? Will you get dividends or you only make when you sell?

QUOTE(MNet @ Jun 29 2020, 01:17 AM) 3x leverage too high risk for me. Not comfortable with that. My investment style is buy and hold, not trading.QUOTE(Ramjade @ Jun 29 2020, 08:14 AM) It appears so. I have invested in their REIT ETF in SGX. Otherwise, SGX doesn't offer much. Looks like I need to consider opening an account with interactive brokers to get cheaper access to foreign markets. These technology ETFs are quite tempting, as they even outperform S&P500 |

Hi everyone,
Investment newb here. Looking forward to learn a ton from abg2/kakak2 investment otais here. Right now I'm trying to open a TS Global account but somehow stuck in terms of providing a valid ID (one that lists your DOB). Apparently my driving license and NRIC doesn't count as they do not display the DOB (tried explaining to them that my DOB is in the IC number itself but, yeah no comment from them). Hence, only a passport would do. Mine has just expired in April this year, & if I can help it, I don't want to make a new one right now. I'm wondering if you guys also used your passports to validate your DOB to the folks at TSG? Thanks. |

IC can only be used to verify address. You can try your luck with birth cert. |

Address usually need to be verified with ur phone or utility bills, or bank account statement. |

But they want to verify DOB, which won't be present in credit card statements (at least on my statements I don't see it).Thank you for the responses guys. Really appreciate it. |

Hello, may I know if anyone here signed up for a Charles Schwab account? Are all US ETFs indeed commission free or only applicable for Schwab issued ETFs? Thanks.

QUOTE(bengang14 @ Jul 4 2020, 11:12 AM) Avoid FSM for US stocks.Use interactive broker (if you have >=USD100k in cash or stocks). If you don't have USD100k, use whitelabels of interactive broker (tradestation global). Alternative use trading212. This post has been edited by Ramjade: Jul 4 2020, 12:52 PM |
