also, is there an option to get the DOS version for the Z5 (if yes, how much for the basic Z5), can't check on the website right now. Is it down/on maintenance?

My Z5 suddenly crashed and unable to detect the msata, which I have my Windows 8.1 installed.

I checked in the BIOS, it detect nothing. And I turn on again after few minutes, the msata back online. Anyone experience the same problem?

What's the symptom before the crash? What's the crash code?

I would like to give you info, but there is no dump file created when it crashed. Just hope it won't happen again. There is no movement of my Z5 before crash nor after crashed.

hmm.i want to ask Z5 user.Your screen that side cover when got something like fan with 'speed 1' face the screen side cover.It is the cover will keep shaking ?feeling like not so solid for the part.it is only mine like this ?how about your guy ?

I reckon msata ssd crashed, you can send in for further checking if it happens again.

Wta: how to turn off the intel hd gpu?

You mean when the fan is blowing toward your screen, your screen will shake right ? Haha mine is also the same.. but when I'm looking at the screen I won't notice any shaking movement, just when I pay attention to the screen cover lid I notice the shaking.

I need some advice. It's hard to choose between z5 and Q5. Can some one advice me which 1 should i buy? I'm not a gaming type. Most of the game i play just simple game like PES. usually i use laptop for surfing, watch movie, do some office work and sometimes play game.

From illegear customize, i saw Q5 more focus on speaker, custom keyboard backlight color and killer wireless (i dont know if this wireless much better than intel dual band wireless). But z5 more good on grafic card and just have a white backlight keyboard color. personally i more like Q5 but from my reading here, many illigear choose z5 (so i guest z5 much better?).

p.s : if Q5 suitable for me, should i go for Q7 becoz the price different just rm1 ! Arghhh... headache..

Both are using gtx960m by default, but Z5 have gtx970m variant. If compare with the same variant (gtx960m), Z5 have better cooling and sub woofer, Q5 have more professional look and DVD drive.

It is up to your preference, if you're going to use the laptop to meet client, Z5 may not be suitable as it won't give your client a professional look.

The reason most of us choose Z5 is because it has better cooling.

unsure about Q5 but from owning Z5 for a month, it is a wonderful machine with solid reatures. the main selling point over other conventional notebook is:



i installed my extra mSATA, and i still have valid warranty (unless i managed to scratch and damaged the codes )

i am currently using the 960gt variant (1TB hdd) for work with games installed (mostly done in virtualbox becuz required win xp) but i did compared both before the purchase:

- Q5 has built in DVD-R/W, Z5 requires external writer
- Q5 has custom back light and key, Z5 has white back light (counting out the red light on cover)
- Q5 has better speaker, but Z5 has sub woofer
- Q5 has 6 cells battery, Z5 using 8 cells battery
- Q5 is 2.5kg, Z5 is 2.4kg (it's still heavy is you are carrying it every working day )
- Q5 can do paint job for better looks, Z5 is default *sigh*
- Q5 is slightly smaller than Z5
- Q5 utilize M.2, Z5 use mSATA

Z5's frame made my colleagues knew obviously i bought a gaming notebook for work, with the justification that 'games requires juices so it's better overall, in spec...', plus i won't be able to meet with customers

just want to second instant noodle, i havent try any other bag yet but with the default bag it sure is uncomfortable for my shoulders and its quite heavy but just my 2cents

currently i'm using a bag brought and meant to fit 14" compaq notebook. it can't really fit into the notebook compartment, i place it on the storage area (which enabled me to carry both notebooks in 1 single bag.)

if you are planning to choose a bag for 14" notebook, but still plan to use it, be sure to avoid oval shaped bags; it seems trendy, but eventually it would lose out, storage wise

So far, I only notice Z5 cooling pipe design..

You can PM Prince J or search through ILLEGEAR thread for the screen shot. I remember Prince J did a benchmark test on both laptop.

I get 68 degree C max on BF4, COD AW high settings 1080p with max fan speed. It is during the first 6 months of the laptop. Now it will be around 70-75 because I didn't do any dust cleaning and thermal paste reapply.

GTX960m 2gb or 4gb will not do much different IMO, cause you won't be playing Witcher 3 on ultra or high settings. Only at those settings it requires higher vram as there are more shader, light effect etc etc. On Medium settings 2gb will be sufficient.

I would say the biggest differences between Q5 and Z5 are the cooling and performance.

We run the same test, one-hour Furmark test.

Z5 GTX960M got 66C Max
Z5 GTX970M got 71C Max
Q5 GTX960M got 89C and still going up.

Btw the Q5 showed a bit of throttling due to short of power supply.

Q5 is more suitable for professional users, who also need internal dvd rom.

guys, am letting go my beloved z5, in order for a better battery life and thinner laptop due to travelling alot..i wish you all the best, will continue to give support here

I got a M2 SSD, but size is 42mm, does it possible to install in Q5? (Z5 is using MSATA)

How is the charger size & weight compare both? (Something need shift working location)

the 42mm one is compatible.

Size wise the Z5 150W adapter is slightly bigger.
