I think there are always in demand. every year government also will allocate budget in construction work (those public work such as expressway, infrastructure such as water transfer tunnel, MRT and etc) beside that private project always quite plenty even now around the busiest area like KLCC area, still not fully develop yet. see how many foreign worker out there in klcc area every day?

civil and mechanical both is not dying. fresh graduate after 1 year can jump ship and have 1k increment easily. eg. 3k to 4k. true story. not sure how much difference but seems like almost the same la for both civil and mechanical. of course civil have their own new technology also. just that not all people like to adopt due to cost issue. pre-stress structure, pre-fabricated structure, variant of system formwork, and etc. same goes to mechanical & electrical have their own advance technology.

Lolx!

Civil engineering will never die down...

TO grow an economy, the country need construction. Construction is one of the highest demand of natural resources such as sand cement and stone.

Afterall, the world civil engineering is actually engineers for the civilized world

It is nvr a sunshine profession

Buildings will forever need to be built and torn down

biggrin.gif

Construction Industry is so complex and actually affect various party namely,

House buyer / Purchaser
Developer
Consultant (Architect, Engineer and etc)
Main Contractor
Subcontractor / Vendor / Supplier
Local Authority (DBKL, BOMBA, SYABAS, TNB, TELEKOM, POS, JKKP, IWK and etc.)

u can also ask me about construction law. I know a lot abt that too biggrin.gif

Recently the call me to sign a document to request the bank to release the remaining balance for them. Do I really need to sign that? According to them they say already 95% complete.. Anyway I can ensure its 95% complete? Shud I sign?

With fittings and such - 250 - 280 psf

I have my question on the costal/offshore/ocean construction industry.

Who are the main players of costal/offshore/ocean construction industry such as building harbor/breakwater/oil rig platform in Malaysia ?
Who are consulting firms and contractors in Malaysia?
What kind of machinery is normally needed?
Who are normally the client for such projects in Malaysia?

Mind to share more background and experiences working with these companies. For contractor, I heard only sapura kencana as mahathir linked company. How's mmhe and th heavy. Are they local or oversea contractor?

Client not petronas/shell in Malaysia? I heard only ssb in Kuala Lumpur. How's the ssb link to petronas/shell in the ocean construction.
