percentile positioning for a cohort of students...........all aussie students (including those doing year 12 programmes overseas eg sam) are collated by marks and subject/school/region/state criteria and given a ranking..........

so TER of 91 means you stand at the 91st percentile, ie, you have done better than 91% of your fellow cohort of students, and worse than 9%...........

Back to the Go8 universities discussion, how do their fees differ from the other unis? Also, what is the ratio of international students there?

going through the g8 fees for international students, only one uni sticks out like a sore thumb..........melbourne...........which is some 25 to 40% more expensive than the rest..........the rest are quite the same.........eg for engineering, bewteen $16 to 20k a year...........even the 2nd tier unis.............so like i said, always try to get in the g8 first (except mel of course)........

and guess what?.............mel probably got one of the most number of foreign students...........see what reputation, ranking and marketing gets you........... smile.gif

unis like melbourne, which ranks very high in international rankings of world unis, carries with it a name premium. the top unis worldwide are harvard, oxford, cambridge etc, and as an alumni, you are automatically recognised as someone of good academic material, as their intake requirements are very high, and they only take in the cream of the best..............it often translates into better job prospects, strong peer networking, and strong branding repute where ever you go..............

if you just wanna be in melbourne, what the hell, swinburne or la trobe can do also........

For commerce, I doubt there's any real difference between Melbourne and Monash. You're just an undergraduate student. If the fees are an issue, go for the more affordable option.
Fees for universities here vary all the time and the factors include the funding they get, the numbers of students they enrol, etc.

Alrighty thanks limeuu and chris. Heh. So i'll just take the more affordable option if there isn't a significant difference between the go8 unis.
