How about the other version of windows? I have another lappy that is running windows 8 and I have to update it to 8.1 before upgrading to windows 10. How can i find the url of the other version of windows update manually? hmm.gif  And can I update it without internet acess after downloading the file? Means do i have to update immediately WITH INTERNET ACCESS after finished downloading it?  rclxub.gif  icon_question.gif

upgrade from 8 to 8.1 is free, iinm via windows store or windows updates. you should look that up with google. to get w8.1 install media, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows...t-refresh-media

to do windows updates offline, it might be too technical (i'm not sure if simply double-clicking on .msu or .cab can work properly). i use dism /online. its official reference is at https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh825265.aspx (look it up at google if you wanna learn more) know that you also need to download all necessary windows update files, and apply them according to orders to avoid issues.

imo, just cut all the bull craps. take your time to do this. you have one whole year to prepare your systems to meet the requirements (that's until around end of July, 2016).

Hey Guys,

Before you go all excited to update your PC Master Race machines, here are some bugs/glitches i've encountered with Win10 running on my surface pro 3:-

1) Fail to close the New EDGE internet explorer windows in random occasion.
2) When SP3 turn to sleep mode, the screen back light will be still on! Have to shutdown to turn the back light off.
3) Screen brightness cannot be adjusted in anyway.

I'll update the list as i explore more of the OS. biggrin.gif

uh? you don't use w8.1 key to activate w10. it will not work. all it matters is that you are doing the upgrade with an activated old os, connected to the internet during the process. after the upgrade, connect to the internet and make sure w10 is activated.

then, you can proceed with a fresh install. after the new installation, connect the computer to internet, and w10 will be activated.

For the third one, maybe you'll need to repair the driver of the hotkeys for surface pro 3?

The only problem i encounter is the C++ runtime libraries especially 2012. I've been repairing all the C++ runtime libraries where some dlls have been automatically deleted by windows itself lol.

you can do upgrade with w10 iso. there is a reason why some are still stuck without any prompt from the system to do upgrade, even gwx icon is present. one of the problems is that gwx scanned the system and found out hardware/software incompatibilities.

my solution to this is easy: take out incompatible hardware, install a plain old os to get rid of incompatible software (or you can just reset it with built-in reset thing), make sure os is activated, connect to internet then proceed to upgrade.

I did offline update on 3 PC as of now. First one is online using Media Creation Tool, downloaded everything into a hidden folder. then copied the Windows.WS folder to the other PC, browse dalam, setup.exe. Working now as this is the 3rd PC.

Most software that can run on Win8.1 should be able to run on Win10. Haven't encountered any software's incompatibility yet.
