I'm using windows 8.1 pro and my bro's using windows 8.1 home edition. He got his windows 10 home upgrade already. Does that mean professional version is still pending?
EDIT: Just went to windows update utility to check whether there is an update or not. There is, just that the notif doesn't show up.

If I download it thru Windows update , then is it necessary to download all the updates first ?
*
Download all the important updates first to increase compatibility of softwares. After that update windows 10 through windows update too.

And just dropping by, if someone encounters an issue stating "MSVCR110.dll" is missing, google microsoft visual c++ redistributable 2012, click the link that redirects you to microsoft download page, download both x86 and x64 version, launch them and click repair. This is because some applications use 2012 vers. of microsoft c++ runtime library and during some updates microsoft windows automatically delete the dll file.

Damn. My Lumia still not yet upgradable to windows 10. ANyone have any idea when the mobile version goes live ? I don't really follow the mobile section much.

In any case, last night I manual check for updates on my windows10. It says mine is up to date. Does it mean what I have now is the current version already as I have not had any updates since the OS went live. I did have few bug updates since a week ago though.
*
Double-check your current windows 10 version just by looking at the details of your OS (right click > properties at "This PC"). If it's still "Windows 10 Technical Preview" then you may need to find solutions in this thread to trigger the update then.

*
Hmm the try searching for proxy settings for these applications. For example, dropbox proxy setting should be in "preferences" in the setting button and chrome is at the "3 line button" located top right corner > settings > show advanced settings > change proxy settings > lan settings.

"Auto-detect" should be selected.

EDIT: then*

Hey Guys,

Before you go all excited to update your PC Master Race machines, here are some bugs/glitches i've encountered with Win10 running on my surface pro 3:-

1) Fail to close the New EDGE internet explorer windows in random occasion.
2) When SP3 turn to sleep mode, the screen back light will be still on! Have to shutdown to turn the back light off.
3) Screen brightness cannot be adjusted in anyway.

I'll update the list as i explore more of the OS.  biggrin.gif
*
For the third one, maybe you'll need to repair the driver of the hotkeys for surface pro 3?

The only problem i encounter is the C++ runtime libraries especially 2012. I've been repairing all the C++ runtime libraries where some dlls have been automatically deleted by windows itself lol.

Is current software will be compatible with Win10?
I'm using Primavera software.

Most software that can run on Win8.1 should be able to run on Win10. Haven't encountered any software's incompatibility yet.

Well just noticed that primavera software is super expensive, dealing the same function with microsoft project too (also super expensive). To check for compatibility, here you go: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/com...?Language=en-AU

Hmm apparently not only a few people encounter this problem but it seems like a lot of users are facing it.

Try this, resetting windows socket.
Press Windows key + X then select command prompt (admin)
type and enter these inputs into the console:
netsh winsock reset

Then, restart PC. Hopefully it'll work sweat.gif

Glad that this solution works! The reason behind this might be the corruption of windows socket (winsock.dll) which controls network program to access connections like TCP/IP. Resetting it will regain its most ori configuration rclxms.gif

Hi guys,

I would like to know why there are no option for me to update my Win 8.1 to Win 10?

Do I need to update optional Win 8.1 updates as well?

Sorry if it's already been answered.

Thanks  biggrin.gif
*
Try checking windows update to see if the windows 10 installation is ready or not. If not, time to use the media installer (you might need to read the whole thread sweat.gif because there will be several problems but with answers). Do update the "important" updates for win8.1 though.

EDIT: read from page 30+

Found one bug on the Groove Music application of Windows 10. It will not detect changes and additions of music files even when I set the music folder locations to be searched from on its settings.
Anyone can confirm this?

Windows defender is good enough for average users. Turn on the real-time protection (should be already toggled on automatically) and you're good to go!

My file explorer is still pinned on the taskbar though.

Now the start menu looks so dull and boring~

Go to settings > Personalisation > Start > Use start full screen
EDIT: well you mean colour so yeah it's so much blue now sweat.gif but it depends on your background wallpaper's overall colour (means the tiles' colour will change if background image changes)
